If Williams wins he will be britians next great hype. It don't matter that he gets ko'd by chisora about 8 years ago, ah it was 4 thought it was before.

If you switch all three of those into W's, all of a sudden Axel has a terrific resume. Comeback Foreman for the belt and then successfully repelling undefeated Botha and still-viable Moorer is a nice trio of A-level wins to go along with B-level wins in old Bonecrusher and prime McBride, and even the draw with Akinwande looks nice (although in fairness he may have been lucky to get that one, and lost decisively in the rematch)

Professor, you're the only person thus far stumping for the Bomber of Brixton. Was there something you saw you didn't like in Botha's last couple of performances that makes him more susceptible than Bambi-Legs?

Worth noting, Williams does have more stoppage losses (though a much lower % of his losses by stoppage - only half as compared with 82% for Botha) and has been knocked out cold more times whereas Botha has been stopped on his feet - do you consider both of their well-worn chins to be a wash at this point in terms of which is more breakable and leaving it up to Danny just hitting that much harder? :think

No, it was actually a mistake. I read it quickly and thought Daniel Williams must be some up and comer padding his record with Botha - not Danny Williams, who while a decent fringe contender in his day has taken so much abuse that virtually any fighter could knock him out.:nut:yep

    Ah!

Yeah, I was originally going to write "Frans Botha vs. Danny Williams" and then remembered his actual first name, under which he is sometimes billed, is Francois - and decided to stick in his middle name for humorous effect and decided it was only fair to use Williams' real full name as well. It would seem you're not alone in not having recognized him, though!

Botha vs. Williams is pretty unimaginable, no surprise everyone's brains are blocking out the possibility of it. :!:

This promoter (Edward B. Mendy) could just be a well-to-do sadist.

How close were the Botha and Moorer fights?

Besides his embarrassing loss to Lewis how do you rate Akinwande

    As close as was Foreman.

Lots of potential gone to waste. Probably more than Ibeabuchi.

That would require standing upright for half an hour without his knees liquefying. :think

How would you rate Wladimirs win over Schulz?

Akinwandes record has some good names and with KOs and solid decisions over them

Was his Lewis fight an anomaly kind of off night

Not an anomaly, no. He was a headcase. Not like Ibeabuchi or Golota, but - in the McCall range. Didn't have the mental fortitude or discipline boxing requires.

I've never seen a fighter as shot as Williams.
