The Bruno of their first fight against the Tyson of the second one. Bruno had n't deteriorated that much between the two bouts, and he was certainly a little more ring savvy for the second one. Tyson on the other hand, had gone back quite a bit between the two fights. In spite of this,as we all recall,Frank gave Mike a more competitive go the first time out,and froze like a rabbit in car headlights for the return. Just shows that he was more scared for the latter. So how would this scenario pan out ? I get the feeling that it would be quite a war for the first three or four rounds, but hand on heart,I feel that once Tyson connected with a few combinations,he'd still stop Frank. ????
I think Bruno was a tad lighter and bit more loose and confident back in 89. He would have had more chances against the 96 version of Tyson, who he also managed to stun pretty good in the first or second round in the second fight.
I disagree. Besides, it's easy to look "sharper" against a ridiculously bulked-up, slow, petrified Bruno of '96. Bruno was in his Peak in '89. Old Holyfield showed how "sharp" the horribly deteriorated rusted-to-**** post-prison Tyson really was.
Tyson wasn't the same man but I think Holyfield of '96 still beats Tyson of '89. Call me crazy but that's what I believe. In 89' he wasn't ready for Mike but I think the same outcome happens had Tyson'89 and Holyfield'96 fought: Tyson isn't motivated then Evander kicks the crap outta him him like a soccer ball. To stay on topic, Tyson wins by TKO in 3.
Bruno has a style made to order for Tyson. Those guys that stand right in front of him and will exchange. And when they get hurt they go. The only thing Bruno can do is land a shot, maybe to hurt Mike. But he'll weather the storm. It's when the storm hits Bruno that's the trouble and Frank is not elusive enough to kill time and avoid the incoming.
I don't see any version of Bruno beating any version of Tyson pre Lewis. Just not a favorable matchup for old Frank. Bruno would of been a more than venerable opponent had he had a Steward in his corner, just no damn survival skills.
Well Tyson has such a huge advantage in handspeed also and that 2 fisted assault of his. Frank's chances are better suited against a non-combo guy that is not fast and lets say telegraphs punches. And a finisher is another opponent quality that Bruno doesn't need to be facing either.
I agree with this, but I'd add the Nielsen version of Tyson to those who can't beat Bruno, he may have won the fight, but he was a shot-to-****, rusty, lethargic gassed zombie in there & weighed-in at a disgusting 239lbs.
I think that's hard to say. First Bruno fight Tyson was some-what rusty, which was because he had been out of the ring for eight months - the longest he had been inactive up until that point of his career. Tyson really did look good in the second Bruno fight. Too me, Bruno put too much on, sure it was all muscle, but he was slow in comparison to Tyson, his footwork was not as sharp as Tyson's. Mike even showed good head movement against Bruno, but not as much as his peak! Has anyone else noticed that the way Tyson finished Bruno in both fights was set up with a tremendous attack? Tyson really was a lethal finisher!
I thought Tyson looked like crap against Bruno in the second fight, besides the good finish. He stood straight up and threw one right hand at at time. His attempt to throw combinations within the fight with his hands down was pretty **** poor looking. Tyson was also hurt with a righthand and a shot off the side of his head. The finish looked good, but the fight itself was pretty poor technique.
