Yeah, I don't see Spoon as a clear 3. And going close with Holmes at a time everyone was takin him close who wasn't a total c listed...doesn't propel him ahead.

My breakdown of Tim and Pinklon's careers should illustrate why he is.

Who else between 1979-1984 was taking him close? Did anyone think they were robbed against Holmes? Did these guys have only 15 pro fights?

All the risky fights in Tyson, Lewis, Mccall were for major titles, great management. Spoon coming off Tubbs and Bonecrusher were stepping stones gone wrong.

You know my point. I explained it.

Satterfield showed good durability when motivated, reportedly going to war with Gomez and taking shots from Holemanand Valdes. So yes.

But your whole point was Spoon was the number 3 heavy..so no shame in Bruno losing, not that he just managed the best run but likely not H2H,

And Layne was better than Marvin, so that helps his case.

from 83-85 Holmes wasn't taking on any big risks after Witherspoon. He fought cream puffs like frank bey Frazier instead of Thomas page or Coetzee all dangerous right handed punchers

    Holmes himself admitted as much

So when you say who else was taking him close? Well by 83 he wasn't challenging himself anymore

    Larry Holmes in 85

" I want a lot of money and no more of those big hitters like Tim Witherspoon and Mike Weaver," said Holmes, narrowing the field to almost nobody. "I've paid my dues, and if they want me back, they've got to give me little people I can beat on without getting hurt."

Bruno was a nice guy. Built like a bodybuilder but I never thought he could fight well and endurance in a tough fight was not his forte. He probably goes 2-2 with the suggested opponents. Overwhelms ****ell and gets a win over either Layne or Mathews.
