He was mentally retired after beating McCall - and should have just vacated rather than being made to look stupid by Tyson in the rematch.

He won a World Title good on him. Might have been on the fourth attempt but he won it.

For Six months he was the Heavy Weight Champion of the world.

When he came up against the elite fighters he fell short. If memory serves he was out on his feet against McCall in the last round but just scrapped it.

He was robotic, had a good jab and massive power 40 wins 38 ko's. He should have been a bodybuilder he would have given Arnie a run for his money!

Give him his due all his fights were entertaining as you never knew who was going to get KTFO.

Legacy wise top 60 Heavy Weights.

He should have had a point taken in the McCall fight in truth for excessive holding in the last TWO rounds.

It was an extraordinary occasion, there were 40 odd thousand people there, most of them were ringside by the end - Nigel Benn, Frank Warren and Naz were all nearly in the ring......

Would probably be fair to say that British boxing has never had an occasion since on home turf - Hatton beating Tszyu and Calzaghe beating Kessler were both great occasions, but Bruno accomplishing his dream after all those years was amazing.

was that most british of hero's, a gallant loser . a nearly man really, but it was good he realised his dream.
all british lads of my sort of age grew up supporting frank and look back on him fondly .
an all time great of boxing he is not though .

frank should be rememmbered as the man that NEVER gave up.

depsite loosing for the title many many many times, he kept trying.

huge heart, honest fighter - who managed to achive his dream as HW champ of the world, if even for a short time.

rememmbered fondly as the guy that dared to dream, and finally achived.

not a ATG, or anything like that, but a wonderful story none the less.

everyone should buy his book btw if you dont have it. its a wonderfully honest story.

A very good fighter and i would agree with most of the above. Sitiyzal's comments that when he followed Lewis in the corner for round 7 was a bizarre moment i fully endorse that. I have never understood how he failed to throw a clean punch through Lewis's gloves when it positively begged him to do that......

Over-rated and under-rated but he would have given Wladimir K major problems. Would have battered Byrd, given Holyfield problems too.

Just a shame Tyson was the gravity of his era. Because he gave Lewis problems and would have been very competitive with Holyfield at his best - which wasn't when he won the title but earlier.
