The divisions top fighters were a lazy bunch, so I see Gardner taking an unfocused out of shape Dokes or Tubbs a few rounds, maybe even a Douglas or Whitherspoon.

Coetzee was no doubt only over here for money, and had more hassle from the anti apartheid crowd than his sparring partners, still when listening to it on Radio Two M/W, I was still wondering who got knocked down when the crowd roared and the signal turned to cackle, in my mind it was very much pick-em.

And yes the Cummings fight had the arguably the funniest scene in a British ring (Pre Mother Wilson, and her stilettos), as the 5' nothing Lawless drags back to the corner the totally out of it Bomber Bruno.

And of course that led to my favourite Harry Carpentier line near the end of the Bonecrusher/Bruno fight ("Oh no! It is Jumbo Cummings all over again!").
