I used to spar with Julius down at the Peacocks. The version of Tyson he fought was certainly better than the one that turned up for the LL fight. Julius said he was being hit so hard he actually thought he was being elbowed. Julius is a mountain of a man and im not small by any fair means but he and Bruno dwarfed me with ease. Il take Julius`s word over yours any day of the week though.
Thats why he busted LL up when they sparred as kids. If both men had met in there primes we all know the result would have been a resounding Tyson KO.
Sparring is not fighting. Lennox Lewis prime was better than Mike Tyson's. Tyson was just a more well rounded fighter/boxer sooner than Lewis even as kids. Lewis does not have trouble with that low crouching style Morrison,Tua could not land a punch on Lewis neither could Tyson for that matter. Im sure you will come back at me with Tyson in his prime slipped better was quicker blah blah, but facts are facts Lewis handled him with ease and he handled fighters with that type of style easy too.
Yes your right sparring isnt fighting.. atsch And of course seeing as LL stood Tua and Morrison on there head the maths mean he can handle Tyson with ease right?
The maths have already been calculated son. Lewis> Tyson KO8 What do you have to go off, because i saw how the style meshed when they did fight regardless of prime or not.
If you ask pro boxers from this era they say prime TYSON beats prime LEWIS. THERE were only four out of 100 that went for Lewis, the same question was asked to fans in 2000 and it was 50-50. Its purely subjective but 96% opinion is pretty conclusive in my book.
The tyson LL meet was very different to Tyson in his prime. If I were betting on a fight between them both in there prime my money would be on Tyson every time.
Tyson is far more exciting and popular. We all know he has more fanboys than probably Jones and Floyd. There is an excuse at every juncture of the guys career.
Or maybe he actually knows more about boxing and prime Tyson than the average internet fan. Most of whom were not even watching fights yet in the early 80's and grew up in the Tyson shell ages. Lewis was an excellent undisputed champ in the 90's, but during his short prime Tyson was something special. On another level.
Ive always believed that too, I think Tyson wins a clear UD if LL fights safe but if he tries to take MT, then Mike will bob & weave inside & pulverize him with every punch in the book until he lands one of those uppercuts & its good night Lennox. Tyson is terribly underrated on ESB.... vice versa with Lennox. :good
Frank Bruno is absolutely right. Tyson would take advantage of Lewis's questionable whiskers just like McCall and Rahman did.:yep
