It was reported in the press that Lewis called Bruno an Uncle Tom, but Lewis denied it.

  2. And seeing as Douglas destroyed a "Prime" Tyson with a decent jab, What do you think Lennox wold have done to him with his ????

And all this "Prime" Tyson stuff, WHEN was tyson's prime Until he LOST

This is false. They only sparred once and it was "uneventful", according to Kevin Rooney.

How to beat a "prime" Tyson.

Now some clever guy will probably put up the Mcall/Rahman KO's. but Lewis was caught cold by two flush HW punches.... While in Tyson V Douglas, Tyson was Outboxed, outfought, outwilled and was totally destroyed and was never the same fighter again.

I remember that night clearly. Tyson didn't look like himself, I even told my friends that he seemed off, that he didn't have his normal fire in his eyes. This was during the walk in.... I'm not trying to make excuses for Mike, but that's something I noticed and even spoke about before the fight took place.

Nobody in history ever got the spectacular KO in every fight.

Still 118-113, 119-111, 117-112 lopsided score against the then undefeated undisputed heavyweight champ isn't too shabby for just some "normal" fighter.

It's obvious you have no idea. Here is a hint... When talking about Tyson's prime, people who know the sport and followed Mike's career talk more about Rooney and Cus and less about King and Givens. And it was a time when the corner actually knew what an enswell was for.

In Tyson's prime he had a technique designed to ESPECIALLY combat the Jab. Just ask Larry Holmes.

I see some people are still gobbling up that Teddy Atlas personally charged and biased bull****.

Explain to me exactly how every one of these guys who make a living beating people up got intimidated by a 5'10 heavyweight with a high squeaky voice? How did this aura of intimidation all start exactly?

Enlighten yourself and watch some old tapes or something. Plenty of guys came right at Tyson and still got KTFO.

  10. So let me get this right, the tyson who lost to douglas wasn't prime, he was what 24 years old ??? And what has Larry Holmes got to with anything he was 40 years old when he fought Tyson.

Yes. Bruno is correct, and he should know.

There is no way on God's earth that Lewis' chin could have held up to 12 rounds of Tyson's fists. And also no way he would have been able to smother him, either, regardless of the Manny Stewart jab and grab. Tyson--the real Tyson of D'Amato, Cayton and Rooney--couldn't be contained by anyone. If you were lucky, like Tucker, you could stay out of range for the fight and have your chin hold you up when you took some shots. Lewis would not be so fortunate; Prime Tyson was not a fat David Tua.

It shouldn't even need to be said but there is also no chance whatsoever Lewis KO's prime Tyson. He wouldn't be able to find him, and even if he could he would not stay within range to try to do the deed because of his beard (think fearful Len in the Holyfield fights). Not to mention Tyson's extremely resilient chin.

If Lewis had tried to jump on Tyson as he sometimes did with guys he was concerned about (Ruddock, Grant, ...), he would have been stopped within two rounds, max. Probably one.

Lennox was a great champion, but he caught Holy and Tyson at the right time and he never had to face Chicken Bowe. What Ray Mercer was able to do with Lewis, Tyson would have bettered. If Lewis actually tried to trade with Tyson it probably would have looked a lot like the Mercer fight, but Lennox doesn't make it to the final bell.

  12. I'm sorry but Lewis was just too skilful and big for Tyson..... Tyson gets WAYYY overated by his fanboys and casual boxing fans, they always have excuses about how the "real" Tyson would never lose to anyone. But he did lose and pretty badly aswell to Douglas and Holyfield twice while he was in his prime (or should have been)

And Lennoxs chin was not bad at all, just because ppl remember the Rahman fight what about the other 40 odd bouts he had.

No, you're the casual fan or fanboy if you think Lewis could have hung with Prime Tyson. It's not there. You combine Lewis' chin, general timidity and Tyson's raging, precise fast-twitch fury and you have the makings of a beatdown on your hands. Lewis is tough, I'm sure he wouldn'tve been totally blown out unless he got stupid, but as some point he's getting TKO'd/KO'd. No shame in that.

The Douglas that fought Tyson, who was already on the slide (his head movement sucked in that fight, among other things), could have competed with any heavyweight in any era. It's a shame James couldn't bottle what he brought that night and replicate it at other times later in his career.

You don't understand what Tyson was in his prime, which is clear by bringing up the Holyfield fights. Tyson wasn't in his prime for Ruddock, let alone Holyfield. Next time, I would suggest you have a better command of the facts.
