Before you laugh, remember, he gave Lewis, Witherspoon and Bonecrusher Smith all they could handle. He also beat Oliver McCall who had stopped Lewis. This won't be a easy scrap for AJ.
The most closest thing I ever saw to Sonny Liston is Bermane "The German" Stiverne, a WWII-era Haitian-German immigrant and spaghetti maker who was known to make one spicy meat-a-ball and had inherited Rocky Marciano's grandmother's sauce recipe. He used to slice garlic into the sauce with his own razor blade and make it liquefy itself in the heat, like he did all his own opponents and his opponents' grandmothers and their recipes for their own family's sauces.
Why would anyone laugh? Joshua and Bruno in some ways remind me of each other. big body beautifuls, very good punching technique and loads of power but a little stiff and rigid (manufactured even) in their overall boxing flow, or lack of it. Joshua has looked pretty relaxed of late tho to his credit. It has to be noted that he is always striving to improve himself and i respect and admire that. I think mark 2 would be favored as Joshua has a little bit of dimensional advantage and is a little less rigid for mine. Perhaps he's a teeny bit more skilled. Frank could fight tho even if he was known for coming up short.
Prior to his loss to Andy Ruiz I would have made Anthony Joshua a huge favorite but now I’m not even sure anymore. Yes he was physically superior to Frank in size and perhaps even strength which might lend itself to the idea that he was the right kind of man to make Bruno fold. But Frank didn’t fold easily. I still remember the good effort that he made against a young Lennox Lewis and the galant effort against Tim Witherspoon. If Bruno rocked Joshua the way he rocked those guys would Anthony have prevailed ? I don’t know. My thinking is that someone gets stopped here. I’m not sold on who exactly.
The only one who seemed to be able to handle Bruno relatively easy was Mike Tyson. In this matchup, I would make AJ the favorite but Bruno makes him work for his money.
Joshua is probably a slight favourite he's shown he can recover better for example Bruno wouldn't of survived the 6th round vs Wladimir, Joshua is also a bit more skillful overall has more variety to his boxing aswell as having more notable wins. But to be fair to Bruno he fought tougher opposition Witherspoon, Tyson, Lewis, that's 2 ATG's and arguably a top 5 Heavyweight in 80s. It's a close match up both fighters have the power to hurt eachother, both fighters have decent technical skills for big men although as i said earlier i think Joshua has the better skills overall. Joshua 60/40 favourite for me but not a certainty by any means.
I would favour Bruno before AJ developed a better gas tank, but latter AJ i think AJ would prevail. Imagine the big money purse if these two were matched up.
