Holyfield stops him fairly early, I think. Bruno could certainly punch and he could box a little, too, but he was stiff, immobile and a bit chinny. Holyfield had way too much all round ability for Bruno and, in my opinion, would overwhelm him probably in around six rounds or there about.
Holyfield for me too. Bruno would have done well early on with his long jab and maybe had his moments if he could have landed a big shot or two but Holyfield was very tough and durable. I see him grinding Bruno down from the middle rounds onwards, and forcing a stoppage: 9th, maybe 10th round. ...And I don't even like Holyfield. lol
This is a realistic view. I can't see Evander finishing Frank early, yet I doubt Bruno had what it took to beat an all time great of Holyfield's ability. Both men had exceptional conditioning, good power and a lot of heart. I can't imagine this being anything but an entertaining fight, and I agree that 9-10 is probably a good call.
I think Bruno would have his moments in the first 4/5 rounds but Holyfield would take over, get on top and stop him.
Let's match up prime Bruno with the Holyfield of the Ruiz trilogy. Seems like a more fair matchup than a prime Holyfield.
Any Great fighter getting past the first 6 rounds against Frank would have an excelent chance of beating Bruno. And holyfeild was a great fighter. So I think it plays out much like holyfeild v old Foreman. It's not so much that evander was a strong champion either, he would struggle with Frank make no mistake but I would expect Holyfeild to win. However, I have long believed Bruno beats any fighter that Bowe and old Foreman beats since they recorded simular results against common foes. So Bruno has a chance. Frank could breeze through non title fights but the tension and presure of a nation would crucify him that's all that puts me off picking Frank because stylistically Bruno is wrong for evander. I actually have a suspicion that Frank is capable of an upset if the fight took place without a title on the line. Frank beats Moorer and Stewart and destroys Cooper far easier than Evander ever did.
Holyfield would beat Bruno up pretty good, too much speed, ,combinations, a lot more talent, prime Holy had a chin of steel I don't see Bruno hurting him at all.. Bruno was a decent fighter, but Holy was in another league:deal Holy KO 7
I'd expect the fight to be competitive early though Holyfield would be out boxing and out working Bruno winning most if not all the rounds pretty clearly. I look for Holyfield's pace and combination punching to eventually wear down Bruno and eventually I'd look for Holyfield to put Bruno away with a series of punches.
Holyfield stops Bruno. Tyson stopped him twice (both pre- and post prison, and did it rather easily), Witherspoon beat him and KO'd late, Lewis was losing but once he landedfew punches he stopped Bruno too, Smith knocked him out cold while losing. Bruno clearly beat McCall but McCall is too predictable and slow, not comparable to Holy in terms of skills. It would look similar to Witherspoon vs Bruno - Holy would take most rounds and then stops him late.
