Foreman didn't fight any big punchers in his comeback, didn't he? That makes it hard to assess this one. What we do know is that Bruno would be landing a LOT of hard punches, and that Bruno (a) punched harder than Lyle, (b) was the younger man and in his prime. I'd give Foreman a chance of wearing down Bruno, but I give Bruno a slightly better chance of either stopping Foreman or winning a decision.
Foreman could take the punishment and keep coming until he eventually stopped Bruno late. I dont think Bruno could keep him off long enough like he did against Mcall. Bruno barely barely limped to a decision against Mcall.
Stewart was a good puncher, but not a big puncher. Shannon Briggs was also a good puncher, but not really comparable with Bruno.
(1) 1991 Bruno and 1995 Bruno were very different; different strengths, different weaknesses. (2) What basis is there to think that Foreman could take the punishment? (3) Why would Foreman's strategy be to "keep on coming" at Bruno, when old Foreman was a better mover and a better counter-puncher?
Tommy Morrison was a huge puncher! He nailed George with his big left hook flush numerous times, and George kept on trucking!
He fought Morrison too. I think Bruno could win this. Bruno was stiff, ponderous and not very mobile, but he had a very nice jab and big power. Bruno was a big strong guy, and not likely to get outmuscled in close by George. Frank's problem wasn't that he couldn't take a punch, but that he tended to stiffen up and freeze when hit with a big shot. However, Foreman was not a combination puncher and was slow and maybe that could save Bruno here. I can see him getting tagged and doing his deer in headlights thing, but before the slow-handed George can follow up with the payoff punch, he might recover just enough to tie George up and hold on until his head clears. For me, it'd be a battle of the jabs with Bruno being more active. Both would get their big punches in, but neither would be in serious trouble throughout. I also think there would be a lot of mauling and clinching, particularly in the latter rounds. If Bruno could stick with the gameplan of outworking Foreman and sticking to boxing, I can't see why he can't win.
Bruno's jab, youth, and power would give him a lead over the first 7 and he may edge himself a UD, hell maybe that massive right hand would find a home and he'd even stop big George. Then again maybe Foreman takes him out late coming from behind
Doesnt matter. He ran out of gas in the 80s in the same manner. Foreman put a lot of pressure on fighters. Old Foreman was a better mover?? I dont think so. He came forward with his crab defense in a straight line. I still think he could mentally wear down Bruno and stop him. Bruno wasnt capable of boxing 12 hard rounds, and George was even in his comeback.
