Fair assessment, Although I argue that Cooney being big puncher does have a legitimate chance with Frank.

This is one that Cooney would win..like an earlier poster said, Bruno would freeze when something hit him and would be taken apart very quickly after that.

I think the main trouble / Problem with Frank, certainly where big fights were concerned, was that he was a rather Sensitive sole, took everything to heart and when he got in the Ring he was burdened with the hopes of a nation on his shoulders, a tremendous burden when in them days, the American Conveyer belt of world class heavies, essentially meant that the American heavyweights were fighting for themselves, and their families, if they failed, no worries, America had several more in the rankings awaiting their chance, I think Frank often found this Burden of expectation draining through Nervous energy, not only thinking what to do in the ring, but what not to do, and the national acclaim or dreded abuse that may follow,

Apparently in the Gym Frank could do a fast 20 rounds because he was primarily burning physical energy, not the "Öne false Move" concentration of mental energy, you could see that release of emotion when he managed to hold on for victory over Oliver McCall, the Last few rounds of that fight were a real drama for Bruno as the Magnitude of the winning result was getting closer....and Franks expending of nervous energy was draining him fast.

Gerry of course was "Saddled" his own unsolicited Labels, he seemed a nice guy in what can often be shark infested waters, i was at a live cinema screening of his fight with Larry Holmes and certain undertones hung heavy in the air, I wanted Gerry to win to perhaps usher an exciting new era into heavyweight boxing, but was happy to acknowledge the best man won, i expected Gerry to dust himself off, andcome back with renewed viger , lessons learned, it never happened that way, As flawed as Bruno might be Gerry also had some of the Jigsaw Missing

As for Frank Vs Gerry, I Like Frank, for all his deemed drawbacks, he did have a very good Jab, i think it will keep Gerry Busy before the Bombs start to arrive, Gerry of course hads that Wicked Left Hook, But Franks is no Love Tap, But i think its Franks Big streight right hand that would Zero in Behind the Jab, as it did with Coetzee, that first right hand Knockdown was a real Zinger ! Gerry didnt move his head or feet with any degree artistry, and Frank didnt find any trouble with tall opponents like Anders Ekland,
I think Gerry can not look to Outbox Frank off the back foot, he will be in front of Frank...,and in a shootout i take Franks streight right hand Rocket to Beat Gerry Left Hook Bazooka..and all before Franks Mental energy plug is pulled 4th or 5th round....

Bruno early or Cooney late. Bruno actually had a pretty good chin early in fights but that left as he gassed. Another thing is that he only had a panic attack against Tyson, and a LOT of Tyson's opponents panicked.

I was a mere child but still remember the "certain undertones".

And I think Frank was quite a bit more durable than Cooney and far more proven over the stretch. He wins this by KO.

I voted for Cooney by ko but its a fifty fifty fight. I feel that Brunos boxing
skills are superior too cooneys, and Bruno would trouble him with straight
punches and his awkardness and power. Bruno outboxed Lewis for seven rounds
and hurt Lewis. Bruno has the skills and power to stop Cooney, but if Cooney lands
a flush left hook Bruno will get stopped on his feet. Cooney survives even gets knocked
down. Cooney TKO 7 after losing every round

I would have to give the edge to Bruno here.

He proved more at the top level.

I know Cooney has the power to KO Bruno, I feel as though Bruno is by far the more skilled fighter but in this match it will be about the chin, Cooney freezes Bruno early and goes in for the kill, Cooney KO5!!!

This is a good fight...Very close.

I agree with the people saying Cooney proved tougher and harder. Holmes may have carried him, but he still spanked him, and Cooney hung around, kept trying to win, and managed to win the odd round here and there. Its a better display against an ATG in ATG form than Bruno ever had. Add Cooney's genuine power and very strong body attack, and I can envision him battering down, grinding out, then sparking a Bruno that grows increasingly negative and timid with every hard whack he takes.

On the other hand, Bruno had better skills; A very, very good jab, a strong right hand, and a very unorthodox but effective defense. He was strong, and not afraid to clinch after losing exchanges. He'd outbox Cooney on the outside as long as he threw him jab, and if he started consistently landing his hard right and smothering Cooney on the inside, he could take over the fight. I can envision Bruno surviving a scare or two, and outboxing Cooney on the outside before seeing him off in the middle-to-late-rounds.

Tough call, but I'll take Bruno. I just feel he was a bit better, and I'm aware there is a mighty strong chance he simply folds. Gun to my head, that is where my money goes.

    Factors to consider

Bruno is def finishing the fight on his feet.

Bruno would get tired midway through the fight

Could Cooney wear Bruno down like Tyson did?

If Bruno lands on Cooney coming in (like he did against Tyson in the first fight)
It could be Good Night Gerald
