True, though Hide himself had been off for a full year

I can appreciate some of Frank Bruno's performances and always liked how he was in great shape. But let's face it. He wasn't leagues better than Hide. He was KO'd by a 13 fight James Smith, and out of shape Tim Witherspoon and had to hold and rabbit punch to get five rounds out of Tyson. His best wins are a close decision over a mentally unfocused Oliver McCall and a shot Coetzee. Still a good fighter.. Hide's resume isn't any better and admittedly worse if we're honest. But when it comes to physical tools and skills these guys are more equally matched than some are acknowledging. for all his shortcummings, Herbie was in stellar shape most of the time. He hit like a truck. He had decent boxing ability and was much more mobile than Bruno. I don't see Frank doing much better against Riddick Bowe or Vitali Klitscko either... I'll give the edge to Bruno, but this one's not too far off from being even money.

Hide was woeful at heavyweight, Klitschko & Bowe proved that, Bruno would stop him, early KO.

Hide beat a very old Tony Tucker who was 39 & very close to retirement, be fair....

I dont buy into the "Bruno had a glass chin" rhetoric - he took lots of huge shots from Bonecrusher, Timmy, Tyson and Lewis. If anything he had a lack of survival skills and stamina issues late in a fight and could only fight one way, which, for the most part was very successful against all but the very best.
Hide on the other hand could be knocked over by a stiff breeze and whilst fast and explosive could not handle genuine HW power, an area where Frank was not lacking. Bruno takes this inside 3 rounds, his jab enough to deter Hide until a power shot lands and takes him out

I'd favour Bruno marginally, but only marginally.

Either guy would have been capable of taking the other out at any point.

Hide is the only world class/borderline world class HW I can think of where Bruno's chances would improve the longer the fight went.

    >"He took lots of shots from these guys"
    >Lost to all those guys by KO

    Hmm

Hide wouldn’t get past Bruno’s jab. If he did he’d be in serious danger. A right upper cut might be waiting for him. However long this lasted Hide would be under a lot of pressure due to Bruno’s power and size. Eventually Frank lands a shot like Bowe and that’s it. Just Frank would finish him as soon as he hurts him.

I’d go with Hide based on the fact that his explosiveness tended to aid him in landing first.

I still favor Bruno but what an excellent scrap this would be
