Everytime he got hit on the sweet spot, he acted drunk and the fight was over. That is not called a chin proving itself. Extremely girly chin. He had the Lewis fight in the back till Lenni hit that face with the left hook. Sorry but i don't rate such fighters. Granted i have not been impressed with Bowe's chin either, i don't think it was tested enough and he avoided a lot of big punchers in his prime but if he could land his shots to Bruno's face, the fight will be over.
Despite not fighting the same competition, I believe Bowe's chin was more proven than Bruno's. Bowe never did get ko'd, but I do see your point.
Bruno can take shots, he just didn't know hot to hold on to clear the cobwebs. Someone like Norton couldn't take the big bombs.
Not sure how can we conclude he could take shots. He looked drunk, helpless and defenseless once hit. That is not called being able to take shots. Guys like Holyfield, Tyson and even Bowe on occasions when hit and hit really badly were able to just shrug it off in a matter of seconds and carry on as if the punches to the face only hurt for a second. In bruno's case those punches the moment they landed to his face just finished the fight there and then. Even his manager out of frustration after the Lewis fight said that Bruno's lack of chin is what let him down in the fight and cost them.
Bruno got KO'd 5 times. He got hit more than 5 times. His face was puffed up against Witherspoon, usually a sign of getting hit. The only time he fell from single blows was against Bonecrusher, which really was an accumulation of shots. Not saying he has the best chin but he did ship some bombs in his career.
Bowe was 1 of only 3 former Lineal HW Champs who were never stopped... Tunney and Marciano are the other 2. I doubt Bruno could get the job done. Fury obviously has not been stopped but he is the current champ. Valuev and Ibragimov were never stopped but they were not "Lineal" HW Champs. Toney was never stopped either but his WBA belt was stripped and his win over Ruiz was changed to a NC, so in a sense he was never WBA HW Champ. I liked Bruno but he lost all of his biggest fights, except for when he beat McCall by decision. Bowe was better than McCall.
I think they would both hurt each other - -- The difference being that Bowe was still very dangerous when hurt - - -See Hide and Holyfield 3 fights - - - Whereas Bruno froze. I dont think Bruno matches up very well in any fights which become a war of attrition.
Bowe at his best would find a way to win after being hurt and face busted up as Bruno ran out of puff .rid**** would know he had been in a fight Brunos jab would really bother bowe a real weapon. The latter bowe who fought gollota could well walk into a big shot a find himself on the deck and in big trouble.
Rid**** Bowe should be heavily favored. While Frank's jab and power coupled with Bowe's poor defense might win him a few rounds or even hurt Bowe, the inevitable outcome is Bruno finding himself against the ropes or in a corner getting battered.. Bowe Tko 6 Frank Bruno.
the question is do bowe really needs to train for a fight vs frank bruno. as soon as bowe jumps on him, bruno is gonna freeze and let bowe punch him as he wants. so that's the big difference between the two - bruno was never a natural fighter, bowe was one of the best.
Going with Bowe, by KO. Rid**** could be sloppy, and out of shape, but he liked to fight, and he could give and take. Bruno was an excellent boxer, and he could really hit, but he just didn't seem to have that extra reserve when things got tough, he went down.
Bowe by mid round stoppage, providing he was in shape. Bruno was underrated and only ever lost to the best in the division and gave a good account of himself on many occasion., he was leading verses Bonecrusher, Spoon and Lewis and tried gamely against a still decent Tyson in 89. His jab and physical strength could give Bowe some trouble early on and i think would be similiar to the Lewis bout with Bruno taking an early lead before getting smoked around the halfway point. Bowe KO6 Bruno.
