Peak Bowe is going to take Bruno apart. Bowe beats him inside or outside. Completly different class of fighter. Bowe at his best was an incredible fighter.
Seemingly Golota had zero chance against Bowe but he could outclass his overrated opponent. Bowe wasn't impressive against shot fighters like Tubbs or Biggs. The McCall version Bruno looked better than Golota,Tubbs or Biggs.Considering this i can imagine a close Bruno-Bowe fight.
I think would be a good fight for as long as it lasts. I think Bruno has some good moments early which wakes Bowe up who comes on and gets Bruno out of there after backing him up against the ropes and delivering a barrage of punches I'm thinking around the 5th round, Bruno might style be standing at the time of the stoppage.
I'd probably take Bowe to win this, just because Bruno has no idea what to do when in trouble. As others have pointed out though, Bruno had excellent power, and a very good (and hugely underrated) jab. I remember him giving Lennox Lewis all sorts of problems when they fought - and imho was comfortably winning the fight until he got tagged in the 7th.
I think Bruno's jab can mash Bowe's face. But I don't really know how much better or worse it is than Golota's jab. He has more power than Andrew, but Andrew was a bit more fluid. Bowe is the favourite, but it's close.
Bowe would destroy him. Let's get real. Bruno dropped the ball against all top fighters he ever fought. Even glorified sparring partner McCall almost stopped him.
Glorified sparring partner who KTFO of an ATG. Trust me, it wasn't a lucky punch. It was a well executed counter punch.
This would be a bad fight for Bruno obviously. Bowe was too fluid and skilled at his best, a level above. Bruno fought his best against Lewis imo, where he used his jab and kept to a game plan. He was very determined that fight so I think if he was like that he might take Bowe into the mid rounds before gassing again, then Bowe would punish the tired Bruno stopping the fight. Bruno not only got tired but he became disorganised later in fights. Franks only chance would be ending the fight earlier but he was never able to put away the top heavies even if he had them wobbled. Its basically comparing two fighters at different levels when dealing prime for prime.
Bruno is the underdog but a stoppage win isn't out of the question given how easy Bowe was to hit. Yeah Bruno ultimately failed when he stepped up but he gave everyone problems. A better fighter in Lennox Lewis who Bowe wanted no part of had his hands full with Bruno.
The best Bowe destroys Bruno. Bruno was built like Hercules but that does not provide great fighting ability nor a great fighters heart.
that was the thing with Bruno, he was good but not great. just that level below and he seemed to have a few confidence issues as well. I don't think he really ever believed he could beat Tyson for instance, he just put up a decent effort which is what he always did but it wasn't enough. I think the only top fighter he thought he had a chance of beating was Lewis, he surprised me that night and I was rooting for him but you could see it falling apart, Lewis just had that extra level in class even though it wasn't a great performance. Bowe would be the same, those guys had too much for Frank.
Agreed, Bruno's physical strength and jab would trouble Bowe early on, perhaps similar to the Lewis fight before tiring and getting stopped during the middle rounds. Bruno was woeful at the higher level and always got stopped so Bowe would have prevailed.
