Tough one. If Morrison comes out of the gate as aggressively as he possibly can and puts serious pressure on Bruno, he might get big Frank to go into “deer caught in the headlights” mode and stop him. Tommy would have to be careful himself though, as Bruno certainly has the power to knock him out. Morrison needs to try to make this a fast paced pressure fight right away or Bruno takes over with his terrific jab and eventually finds a home for his powerful right hand to end Tommy’s night.
I can see it being like the Morrison Ruddock fight, the differences being that Frank would have been in better shape than Razor and perhaps more disciplined but without the chin.
Morrison strikes me as being the more fragile of the two men. Yes Bruno had major gaps in his makeup, but I don't see Michael Bentt taking him out early. Sure Ray Mercer would have beaten him, but it woudl have taken longer.
Great fight with no clear favorite. I think Frank was physically stronger and over time this would matter. But like Bruno by knockout, but could see it going the wrong the way, too. A great trilogy!
I can see it going either way. They both had heavy hands but issues with their chins and stamina. Bruno had that heavy jab and longer reach, while Morrison was faster and could put them together better than Bruno. Another thing favoring Tommy is that he had more fights in which he was able to rally to win. Bruno would get hurt and his poor survival instincts would kick in. He would get hurt and basically be out on his feet. Rather than take a knee, he would take more punishment and get stopped. Morrison had fights in which he would get up from the canvas to win, in addition to the Hipp fight when he won with a broken jaw and broken hand. Because of that, I might make Tommy the slight favorite. But I don’t exactly pick him with much confidence.
Both chinny, both experienced all their defeats by knockout. So I eliminate the possibility of this fight ending. However, I think Bruno has a slightly better chin. I also think that Morrison does not have the psychological makeup for a champion (the WBO title does not count before 2004), while Bruno was a champion. Bruno wins by knockout.
Great FIght! Similar strengths & vulnerabilities. Fireworks & I can easily see installing EITHER as a *slight* favorite. Mine would be Bruno, length & jab.
I lean towards Bruno. I think Bruno stops Morrison his jab, power and always coming in in great shape makes him the favourite. Having said that but could see an argument for Morrison too!
