Frank Bruno vs. Wladimir Klitschko (Primes)

Bruno comes out behind his strong, accurate jab and attacks Wlad from the first bell. Certainly Wlad has a chance of Frank gassing out if the fight goes into the later rounds. But, I don't think it will as Big Frank catches Wlad with a right hook early and it's lights out for Wlad. Wlad never does well when the other fighter pressures him backwards. And Frank hits more than hard enough to put the lights out on the more fragile chinned Wlad. (Bruno is far superior in every way to a prime Sam Peter and Lamon Brewster) I think Frank has more trouble with the more durable Vitali and gasses out late after building an early lead.

 

Wlad's primary weakness is the left hook and it was really only a problem before Manny Steward helped him to shore up his defense and to use caution when facing big punchers who threw that hook well. Bruno was primarily a right handed fighter and if truth be told, not always terribly aggressive. He also failed when facing opponents who's abilities to physically impose themselves matched his own. He'd be in there with a much larger and possibly stronger fighter in Wladimir. Frank probably tags him with some big shots here and there, but Wlad ties him up whenever things get too dangerous, while steadily pecking away with that jab and even landing a good right cross here and there. Bruno get's broken down late and stopped.

 

Bruno bangs him out within 3 rounds.

Frank will be at him non stop landing heavy shots, not giving him no space backing him up with the thudding jab. That holding **** isn't going to protect him. Bruno bombs through him and an over hand right flush on his glass mouth knocks him for 6.

Wlad does not do well in h2h match ups as his bogus career is all smoke and mirrors. The guy can't wins fights without cheating.
Foul play is not a skill and doesn't factor into his defense.

 

How would Bruno dare challenge Wlad with his somewhat primitive skills ?

 

LOLOLOL! Wladimir clips him with a left hook harder than he ever felt and stops Bruno in 4 or 5. Wladimir is a way better boxer than Bruno.

And with Oliver McCall and a shot Coetzee being his only real wins of note, what exactly was Bruno?

 

You don't win Olympic Gold Medals with primitive boxing skills.

 

I think people confuse being unimpressive with being ineffective. Wlad is one of the least impressive champions to ever live, but that doesn't mean he wasn't effective. Most great fighters would have a problem with him even if they end up as the eventual winners.

 

McCall was a very good win. Lewis was ko'd by McCall. What opponent of Wlads has a victory over an ATG fighter?

Bruno stood toe to toe with Prime Tyson , trading shots and survived 5 rounds.

I wouldn't give Wlad more than the opening round against prime Tyson.

 

McCall was average. And Frank Barely gutted that one out. Orlin Norris beat Oliver McCall too. Does that mean he was better than Wlad?

Though the ATG's they beat were washed up, I'd say at least two of those guys were better than McCall, and Lewis hadn't reached his best yet when Oliver beat him either.

A post Rooney Tyson yes, and Frank was holding behind the head with one hand and rabbit punching with the other. Funny how you don't have a problem calling out Wlad on his infractions, but not Bruno.

I disagree that he'd lose that quickly, but even if he did it's irrelevant. Doesn't mean that he'd lose to Bruno on the basis that he was beaten in less time by a common opponent who beat them both.

 

Bruno probably doesn't see it to the final bell. If not UD Vlad. I see Vlad's left hook giving Bruno trouble.
