How would Bruno had turned out if he utilized Stewart, especially with Bruno's strength and punching power.

I don't think as good. Or negligible. For every plus there'd be a minus.

George Francis did a good job with the guy. He was never a guy showing up fat or anything. But the biggest factor I see with Manny is Frank being a road warrior and not fighting in comfy London all the time. He sure didn't do well on the road and seemed to be a guy that thrived off that hometown love he got. He needed it to perform well. And his matchmaking gets tougher w/ Manny. A chameleon can change colors but it's still a lizard---Frank still has his warts.

I think Bruno just about reached the limit of his potential. He was well-schooled (if a bit upright), threw textbook punches, and used his jab to excellent effect. He never came into the ring out of shape, and always gave an honest effort in the ring.

His management/promotional team(s) also did a great job of positioning him for title shots via the path of least resistance, capitalising on his huge popularity in the UK.

Simply put he had many of the attributes of a great fighter, but too many weaknesses which meant his ceiling would always be "very good". His nervous system reacted unusually to punches (rather than necessarily a weak chin per se), he didn't have great natural stamina, and he somewhat lacked speed, reflexes and coordination.

I think Steward could have added something to most fighters. I just don't see Bruno as a Manny guy though. I agree with zadfrak that he was a home comforts type who needed his support system around him. That wouldn't sit well with Steward, and there would probably be conflict on the back of that.

    Agreed.

I'll tell you what else----a ton of heavies through the years could have benefitted from having the Bruno braintrust instead of what they had.

Bruno was never going to be a dominant force ala Lewis or Wlad whoever his trainer was.

Razor ruddock with stewart perhaps a great long reigning HW champ. Thats how talented he was and how much of that talent never got tapped.
A jab and straight right to match his smash and the guy would have been virtually unbeatable by tyson, holyfield, bowe.... anyone other than Lewis.

But bruno? No he did about as good as he could. He already had a great jab and power and was strong but the way he reacted to punches was unfortunate, so was his stamina and he was just kind of unlucky in general.
    No real speed either.

I know Floyd Patterson tried to work with Ruddock but he came on board a little late in Ruddock's career.

Fair point. Tweaking, rather than reinventing.

Steward improved Andries. Worked on his jab and made him better. I think he would improve Bruno and make him more all offense.

I wonder how he'd have trained Tyson?

Maybe he'd have made Bruno a defensive genius

No, he just didn`t have it and I don`t think Bruno understood boxing fundamentals, you have to a good listener and Bruno wasn`t very logical with his fighting, he was old school, he didn`t have the speed either specifically with his feet , he couldn`t slip punches because he was too robotic, plus his chin and stamina would still be a problem.

Tyson`s only way of fighting well because of his size was the way D`Amato and Rooney trained him.
