History seems to be kind to big Frank, one of my favourite fighters as a kid. He was like a machine early on despatching no hopers. Whenever I see a thread here regarding Bruno his power is always mentioned. Aside from hurting Tyson in fight 1 what other class heavyweights did he genuinely hurt. I don't recall Bonecrusher, Witherspoon or Lewis being in real trouble as in shook to the core.. Has history and time boosted Frank's power in people's memory.. Not saying he didn't have a pop.. Just not concussive at top level.
Well you can say that about a lot of people's "power" Who did Vitali or Wladimir Knockout? But people here love to talk about their power. Bruno was a slow guy. Maybe he couldn't connect on his best shots against the elite level fighters. So it is hard to say how hard he punched. http://basementgymboxing.blogspot.com/2014/08/quotes-about-power-leroy-caldwell-on.html This guy fought or sparred with Bruno, Cleveland Williams, Earnie Shavers and George Foreman and said their power around the same. Yet years later he claimed Shavers punched way harder than anybody he faced. So you can't really rely on word of mouth because people lie so much.
Bruno had power. There was a punch test carried out in the 1990s, with some sort of pressure sensor, and he outperformed Tyson, Lewis, Ruddock, and an old Foreman. It just goes to show that power isn’t everything!
I genuinely had no idea of that. Very interesting, shame it couldn't be transmitted into live power in the ring
Right then you realize there is no proof of none of this ever happened. It is just internet rumors that people like you believe with no proof. Show me video of the so called test. Show me a factual magazine article about it.
Frank Bruno was measured, nobody else. I'd be 99.9999999999999% confident it's an old wives tale. I see Lewis has now been added to the mix, for years he was no-where to be seen but it sure makes the story better. All these guys getting together like this for such an event yet no footage or even magazine articles? Really LOL
I'd like to see the proof that Bruno, Ruddock, old Foreman, Lewis and Tyson underwent some sort of punch power test too. I missed this at the time. I'd imagine with such famed boxers it would have been a TV-worthy, TV show type event, or at least a segment of a TV show. But perhaps it was a scientific study that somehow they all agree to partake it, in which case it would have been written up and reported in the news too. Another possibility is it being total bull****, never happened.
I think he was a monstrous puncher, but his heavily muscled frame was tight and that stopped him from letting his hands go.

I think Bruno hurt all of those top guys he fought and was beat off. That's why they were top fighters though they could take it better than most of the 2nd and 3rd raters he was bombing out.
Bruno could hit very hard his jab was a real weapon .anyone he could hit he could hurt. The fighters that beat him were world class guys that were hard to hit cleanly and could take the odd hard shot Frank landed.if Bruno had been American he would have had more defeats on his record but would have probably have shocked a few big names with his power he would be regarded as a danger man rather than a national treasure.
I think Bruno certainly had power. While I do think the left hook that put Tyson on his heels was more a result of great timing than outright power, there was also obviously power behind that punch. He was one of extremely few fighters that ever got Tyson's attention with just one shot. I seem to recall the ultra tough McCall being fazed momentarily by Bruno, and he wobbled Lewis briefly too. Gerrie Coetzee said that Bruno's right hand felt like a cannon ball, and that has to count for something, even if Coetzee was on the slide.
