He's decided to hang 'em up. Wish him all the best he seems like a classy guy. Could see him getting a job on the telly as a pundit or something if he wanted. Handsome lad, speaks well etc. If he kept on fighting the way he fights, that probably wouldn't have lasted. Probably a wise move from the wise guy.

Good decision, I’m delighted he decided to get out now with everything intact.

There was nowhere for him to go. He was already smashed by Johnson, Buasti would have annihilated him as would Yarde.

He’s had an entertaining career and he’s clearly got something upstairs to do other things.

Bizarre move. There was probably at least one last 6 figure of day before a retirement available. He must have something lined up already.

Surprising move as I thought he had a few fights left, and was fairly high profile.

Wish him all the best in his second career

Agree, he could have easily done what Haye did against Bellew and take a KO loss for a final payday against Yarde. Warren was offering £100k. Could use that money on a deposit for a new property.

As the OP pointed out he’s a handsome well spoken guy so he probably has a lot of options from this point. Very sad way to go out though in Monaco.

Makes a mockery of Hearn dismissing Warren’s £100k offer as “nowhere near enough”. He had one ****ing fight left.

If you know you haven’t got it in you, why carry on. He could get seriously hurt. He would likely take home £50-60k from £100k payday in a sport where you could end up in a coma or dead if you were giving it your all let alone when you're not. He would have to fight an elite fighter for that money and at 29 he’s got time to build a career outside of boxing and could earn similar money for a years work. Fair play to him.

Well Darren Barker did that. Tons of boxers box injured for the payday. I guess Frank values his health more than that so fair play to him.

I agree with you to an extent that he’s got out the game in full health and he knows his head isn’t in it but Buatsi and Yarde aren’t elite fighters, not yet anyway. It’s hardly Brook going in against Golovkin.

Great move. Had a good run. He has his brain and looks intact. He was a fairly wealthy lad before he started boxing so I gather he has many lucrative business interests.
What do people want these men to do? Fight on until they are smashed to pieces and can't even speak to their kids until the end?

Seems a good move imo. Hopefully he has invested his purses wisely.

Perhaps he genuinely doesn't need a hundred grand?

Perhaps. I don’t think he will have made six figure purses many times though. Maybe against Chudinov and Johnson, possibly Burton.

None of our business anyway I guess.

Some of the responses on here are strange to say the least - this is a good and brave decision.

If I remember his story correctly, Frank is well educated and comes from money, so no reason to fight on.

But I for one didn’t know that.

So on paper you look at it over the course of 48 hours or so, you’ve got Ronnie Clarke struggling to buy Christmas presents and Buglioni retiring with 6 figure offers on the table.

If he’s wealthy enough then yeah, great decision and no need to fight on but I have no clue about his personal finances.
