This would be a great, great fight, and Antuofermo would win it. It would probably go the distance, with Vito winning by a clear but not-overwhelming margin. Over 12 rounds, I'd say Antuoformo takes it by 8-4 or 6-3-3. Somthing like that. Antuofermo was the more durable of this pair, and he was a more complete fighter, both on the inside and as an outside boxer. Vito was definitely more durable, and he might have been a little stronger, too.
I remember Fletcher's problems with Parker and Green. Fletcher also emerged as a very beaten-up winner against Ernie Singletary. For these reasons, I always thought Fletcher was just a tad vulnerable, and that he'd have trouble with guys at the very top of the division. I agree with your point about Vito lacking Roldan's power, and that this is the reason Antuofermo-Fletcher would probably go the distance.
I agree that if Fletcher fought Vito during the 1981 to 1982 period, then Fletcher likely would have beaten the washed-up Antuofermo. Fletcher vs. Vito prime-for-prime however favors Vito.
Vito by decision. Fletcher was good but his skills diminished before he made it to the top. Vito was a tough customer for anybody.
vito outlasts fletcher to win a decision. Superior stamina as well as superior chin are the main factors. He might have even scored a late round tko.
Providing Vito does n't bleed too much,he has the strength to outhustle Fletcher down the strength. Antuofermo by decision.
Vito by decision - he was cleverer and more experienced than Frank, durable enough to take Frank's best and with better stamina. I like Vito by decision. It should be remembered that Vito gave Marv one of his toughest fights ever - THAT Vito would have more than enough to beat Fletcher, imo.
Never heard of Fletcher but Antuofermo wasn't that good of a boxer, great stamina but more will than skill.
My heart is with The Animal, but I have to admit Vito wears him down by fighting 3 minutes per round over 15 and Frank fights in spurts. Great action fight and about a 9-6 decision for Vito.
