Pretty big upset. Brooks was the house fighter (signed with Tom G Brown Promotions) and came in with a more glittering 6-1 (5) record, while The Puerto Rican Bakugo was 8-6-3 (6)

I think he had a pretty good case for winning three rounds out of six, and with the point deduction the decision is deserved. I think he was just shocked that he got the nod against the A side.

Eh, it could very well be the judges threw him a few pity rounds as "make-up calls" for the ruinous state his gonads were left in, but it wasn't like this should've been a whitewash for Brooks either. He threw and landed more, but not by all that much.

Pretty clear where he took his name "Havoc" from; his style is clearly reminiscent of and patterned after Lamont Peterson - just not even close to being on that same level of talent. Poorer footwork and way less sharpness in his punching, even if he does possess more natural power than Lamont did.

"El Toro" Resendiz García is the shorter fellow, in the blue with silvery white trim. He's actually from Mexico. "Kilo The Kid" Madera, on the other hand, is the one rocking Mexican flag color trunks - but he's from Stockton, CA.

That's my read as well. He wasn't "supposed" to win.

10-9 Resendiz García, outworking Madera but got clipped with a hook that popped his eyebrows up along with some other snug blows.

Lots of waiting and feinting at mid-range, and then scrabbling together with misses over the head or punches skidding along each other's backs as they fall into clinches. Very jittery feel in this one so far. Resendiz García touching Madera's body consistently with jabs, making the difference. Neither landing power shots very often, nor cleanly when they do land.

I had questioned the logic of putting these unknowns instead of recognizable (if faded) names Browne vs. Grachev in the co-main slot - but honestly this, while not amazing or anything, is probably a much better fight than was that.

Still baffled how that one became a dark match opening the card, though.

Resendiz García needs to settle down, but he's up 30-27.

My understanding, at least as per Twitter, is that Browne chose to go off TV. Wasn't in any rush to see Browne-Grachev, personally. So, this works out better for all of us.

Is Resendiz any good? He's had...flashes, but I dunno. Will defer to others more familiar.

He's way too skittish, and giving Madera more respect than Kilo The Kid's power seems to warrant (although the lanky SOB does have that wiry strong look so maybe his shots hurt more than they look like they do). By hesitating so much he actually makes things worse for himself and is allowing a lot of these awkward clinching collisions to happen (where he frequently takes a forearm to the face from Madera). When he stays on the jab and turns Madera he remains in control without much difficulty.

I don't think Canelo is losing sleep over either guy, but this is fun (if messy).

Speaking of messy, we gotta cut!
