Depending on the type of condition Brock is in coming off two major surgeries, but let's assume a roughly equal UFC 100ish Brock Lesnar, that is effectively how I see the fight going. Sure, it could work out where Brock gets starched at some point but this really is as simple as Frank says. Brock gets the takedown, it'll be mighty difficult to get out from underneath him as Overeem isn't a strong wrestler to any degree and hasn't fought even a decent wrestler in a long, long time... maybe a bit more recently if you count Fujita, but that's spurious at best, in my opinion.

Still, very excited to see this fight as I'm a fan of both fighters.

I think Frank is considering the version of Lesnar that he fought at UFC100. But this is a mistake. That version of Brock would have a great chance of beating Overeem. A declined Brock coming off a long lay-off is going to get stomped. He's going to be rustier than the Titanic, have dodgy cardio, and most probably still be gunshy from getting obliterated last time out. This will not be the same Lesnar as the guy who bulldozed Couture and Mir, not at all. This is why I think it's unfair of the UFC to throw him back in with a top guy immediately, we're not going to see the real Lesnar. He should've came back against Mark Hunt or Ben Rothwell or Rob Broughton or Joey Beltran or Mike Russow, someone on that level.

I agree, it is striker vs grappler or as close as we can get to it in this day and age. Overeem is certainly a more complete striker. He has a poor defence but Brock can't exploit it. Reem might be strong enough to stand up and guillotine him. He also had a better grappling background than Brock has stand up. Brock has wrestling and some jits. Reem has striking and some wrestling and jits.

Still gonna get a boner at the weigh in!

Both suck anyways. Overeem isn't going far. I think he can beat Brock though.

    mir talking sense as usual.
i can see both guys winning but this is pretty much my version of how lesnar would win.
the main difference this time is that brock will have a supertight guard anytime the fight is standing. Also despite brocks illness i still reckon he has the better engine and if it goes to the fence he will eventually wear overeem out.

Overeem with be distracted by the **** that Lesnar has tattooed on his chest, go to suck it and get taken down by Lesnar and submitted.

I can see the fight going like that and wouldn't be too suprised, but in the fight game the worse attribute a fighter can have is not liking and being afraid of getting hit in the face. Brock is not conditioned to getting hit in the face and at his age he will not train that out of himself. Sorry I see Overeem landing 1 punch and Brock covering and running and eventually getting TKO'ed much like what Cain did, only probably worse.

this is one of those that could go either way but whichever way it goes will be in dominating fashion, i cant see a back and forth fight here intriguing part is which way will it go, at first i thought brock was getting annihalated now im not so sure

I won't be shocked by any outcome. These guys are physical freaks, and either guy can end this quickly and violently.

There could be some back and forth here, I wouldn't rule it out. Lesnar may not like getting hit, but he absorbed a lot of damage in his last two fights; and managed to win one of those. It's not like he folded after being hit one time. I don't know that Overeem can take out Lesnar with any one shot, unless that shot happens to be a knee. If Overeem can avoid the take down, and Lesnar can repeatedly close the distance, I think you'll see some back and forth action. If this fight does become a back and forth encounter, the edge goes to Lesnar. Overeem will quit well before taking the kind of punishment Lesnar did against Carwin or Velasquez.
