I've always liked Mir. He can be arrogant but I just think he's incredibly smart about the sport and a good analyst. The only guy I think beats him at Heavy is Lesnar.
I think so, We still havn't seen alot from Carwin because he's ko'd everyone in the first round. He does have arm punch ko power and is obviously strong and a good wrestler. His standup is still questionable since Gonzaga had him in trouble but he showed good recovery. This should be a great fight and look forward to it for sure.
Should win hes got more options in his game but Carwin does own freakish power and Frank doesnt have the granite chin that can take to many of those right hands.
Of course he can beat Carwin. He's smarter, better skilled, and an all around better fighter. A fight is a fight and anything can happen. Carwin has a punchers chance. But he's got only one way to win this fight. Mir can win several different ways.
Same thing as the Congo fight. Carwin cannot make any mistake or Mir will break his bones, at the same time, Mir can't let Carwin hit him square in the jaw.
I like Mir, his the only fighter I know, both in boxing and MMA that speaks from a purely logical/scientific point of view, and yea he can definitely beat Carwin, he would be the favorite.
carwin is overrated as hell. he was losing the stand up against gonzaga and landed with a heavy right and won. Yes he won, but i was certainly not impressed with his abilities. The one thing that stood out, was the right hand, which showed he packs power and his ability to get up after gonzaga´s takedown. mir will beat him to the punch continuesly and win comfortably.
Carwin has a puncher's chance, nothing more. Mir is a better boxer, far better on the ground of course, and just better all round. Carwin showed he has true KO power against Gonzaga so he can't be written off completely, but I expect the new look super-strength Mir to dominate him.
Mir has awesome subs cos when he locks them he breaks bones. His grappling isn't awe inspiring though. Carwin has good grappling experience so he might be able to avoid the subs. Standing up he can't stop trucks in their track so who knows. It's a really good match up. Carwin needs the legit win and it would do a Lesnar-Mir trilogy WONDERS should he impress against someone who sort of looks like a poor man Lesnar.
Agreed Mir should win pretty easy. not bagging on Carwin but Mir is light years ahead skill wise IMO.
