That's entirely feasible as well. It wasn't in Frank's best interests for Smith to get sparked like that. What isn't feasible is your idea that Frank had a bet on.
Maybe so, but I don't see how FW was saying to signal it off. Paul didn't have body language to show that he was out on his feet after the first KD for FW to gesture to the ref to end it. Certainly something else.
If it's 'something else' then it's pretty likely that it's because he's pissed off that a good earner for him has just been sparked early by a kid who he didn't really want to look good. Not that he's just sunk his accie.
boxing news's expert view from james degale it's an intriguing fight and it's going to be a good fight. people think it's a one horse race but it's not."smigga" is a good seasoned pro who has been there and done it. groves, will be more confidant and let his hands go - like he did against kenny anderson. if smith lands, groves gets knocked out. but the favourite is groves, and you'd have to say groves on points. but it would not surprise me if he got knocked out.
Smith thought he'd beat Groves and was hoping there'd be a trilogy of British super middleweights it'd make sense from ******'s point of view, whether ****** was hoping for this eventuality is anyone's guess, he certainly didn't look happy after the 2nd KD though.
there is a replay from the first knockdown and frank throws both arms up in the air in a "**** this" fashion
This is a joke let me put this to bed for you all ******** wanted the paying punters and people at home to witness a good fight on his headline bill especially with the box nation subscription about to start a good fight puts a seed in everyone's mind that they need to subscribe to this. For his limitations Smith puts bums on seats in Liverpool a 2nd round blowout doesn't do his future aspirations for Smith any good. I don't think Frank was to bothered who won as long as it was a good fight if Groves won in s good fight he could continue making money on him and build up to. De Gale super fight if Smith won it could create a poor man's Benn Eubank and Watson and make money on three fighters instead of two What he didn't want is for one of his fighters to get blown out within two rounds and close the book on him making money for him in the future nothing to do with wanting Groves to get beat he just needed this to be a good fight
I think its probably more disappointment - remember that Frank has worked with Smith for many years and possibly has a good relationship with him. Of course he is going to be disappointed when his fighter (friend?) gets knocked down.
Dunno what FW's complaining about. If smigga was so important to him he wouldnt have had him on Amir Khan undercards against low par fighters for years.
