How do you see this fight going?

Frank Shamrock was one of the first all round MMA superstars and seemed and excellent talent, fair to say he did surpass his bmokder brother in the octagon.

Cormier looked ready to be a HW ATG before dropping down to LHW and coming up short against Jones.

Both have a strong wrestling game, good knowledge of submission attacks and a very good stand up game.

Frank for me is one of the best conditioned champions we've ever seen in the Octagon but is his skill and technique on the level of DC?

Very few people in the history of MMA would even be competitive with the best version of DC and Frank Shamrock is not one of them.

Prime Fedor, Cain, JDS, Stipe and obviously Jon Jones are the only ones I would favor against the best possible DC.

I think prime Frank would be great as a WW-MW today. He'd be out of his element at LHW.

Could he get that low in weight?

He's an amazing talent certainly. But so was Frank imo.

Another complete mismatch. Cormier does everything better but submissions which he wouldn't need ,did you see the Barnett fight? Cormier is also a high level heavyweight if he needs to be.

Royce Gracie has a better chance of beating Woodley but that's not a complete mismatch see the differance here?!

I think so. His last run was at MW. He didn't exactly look enormous against the likes of Cung Le and Diaz.

Frank would be a WW in today's era. He fought most of his career at around 185lbs without ever cutting weight. When he fought tito he had to drink water and put weights in his pocket to get close to the 199 limit.

    185 is a MW right?

I don't think any fight with Frank is a complete mismatch.

I didn't realise he was that much smaller than Cormier though.

Maybe Bisping would have been better.

I'm still convinced Royce beats Woodley.

That was his walk around weight. I'm assuming if he fought today he'd cut weight like almost everybody else.

As for the fight, I think it is intriguing. Can't simply say Cormier is too big because Prime Frank beat Tito who had bigger dimensions. Still Cormier is the favorite as he's an overall a more well rounded fighter than Frank. Only chance Frank has is if he can last into the championship rounds and Cormier gasses.

In fairness I wouldn't take much from those last fights. He was an old man with a crippled back and knees.

Potentially, but then again cutting the extra 15 pound might reduce his stamina levels which is one of his best attributes and set him apart from everyone else at the time.
