It looks increasingly obvious Frank will look after most matchroom UK cards - outside of PPV - over the next few years, as Eddie focuses on the American empire. What do you make of Smith? Certainly lacks the selling credentials of Eddie Hearn. To be fair, Eddie could talk the nickers off a nun and is an entertaining guy. Big boots to fill. But Warren is also much more entertaining to listen to, being the cranky oldschooler he is. Is Smith a mate of Hearn's? Looks like a job for the boys appointment because Frank hasn't got much about him from a promotional point of view. Not that it matters too much. Eddie and Barry will remain the decision makers. Smith is their UK stand in man.
I think Frank Smith started at Matchroom on work experience and just worked his way up. Young lad who is heavily influenced by Hearn and its annoying but understandable. Blatantly a grafter though so fairplay to him I say.
Should've included that I wish him all the best. I'm no hater. Unless your name is Amir Khan! Or Oscar De La Hoya. Just think Smith appears a bit flat. And when he does try, looks like an Eddie Hearn wannabe. Lacking personality at the moment. I hope he finds himself with experience. Sometimes promoters bring more entertainment to the game than fighters.
Oh yeah, he is sh*t at public speaking, but then most people are. He will probably get better in time but will never be as good as Hearn in that area. Just not who he is.
