Beebs, first off I'd like to say that styles make fights. My boxing knowledge is still superior to my MMA knowledge, so I'll have to revert to examples from that sport. George Foreman annihilated Joe Frazier and Ken Norton. Muhammad Ali split his very close fights with Frazier and Norton going into his fight with Foreman. Ali defeated Foreman. Ricardo Mayorga twice defeated two time winner over Shane Mosley, Veron Forrest. Mosley thoroughly defeated Mayorga just last weekend.

When Fryklund faced Silva, Fryklund was giving up height and reach to an opponent with between 15-20 mma fights. When Fryklund faced Le, Fryklund was the taller fighter facing a fighter with a hand full of mma fights. Fryklund made the fight with Le much more interesting than he did with Silva. Fryklund was completely dominated by both.

I appreciate the links, and I'm not saying they provided no value. I just believe if you had links to Le facing a 6'2" Thai boxing BJJ practioner, and links to Silva facing a 5'10" whirling dervish; we would better be able to analyze a match between the two. It is not you fault if you can't provide those links.

Anderson has accomplished way more than Cung le, so I'm not even trying to debate legacies or standing. I'll try to analyze a fight between the two based mostly on what I've seen on what I've seen, and very little about what I've read.

I'll rate their clinches as equal threats at this point since Le has not had comparable opponents to demonstrate his with. I'll repeat what I said earlier in this thread. What will Le do if he can take Silva down? I think Le would be in a world of trouble if he tried to keep the fight on the ground with Silva. If Le does take Silva down, he'd better keep going back to standing where he is closer to being Silva's equal. Notice I said closer. I believe Le places a lot of weight on his back foot at times, and has his head straight up in the air. I don't think he can stand with a taller fighter, with Silva's hand speed and straight right hand, without getting hit and hurt. Silva is not the kind of opponent you want smelling blood. Silva would stop Cung Le in my humble opinion, based on Le's vulnerability to a good straight right hand. Ground skills may never even come into play.

I would still pay to see this fight happen. I think Le is one of about 4 opponents that actually have a chance to win.

It took George Foreman two rounds to defeat Joe Frazier while it took Muhammed Ali 27 rounds before he got his first W over smoking Joe. Ali went on to hand Foreman his first defeat.

Le is a counterpuncher whereas Silva copunterpunches or stalks his opponents.

And yes - there is no comparing legacies or rankings here. Anderson is the established champion in his weight class with an impressive list of bodies lying in his wake. Le has yet to build his legacy in MMA - but he is off to a solid start with his win over Shamrock.

I would love to see Twinkletoes get worked over by Silva. Trigg has no ****in' idea how to beat Silva. Tell Trigg to learn how to beat a man after you illegally strike him in the groin and then proceed to get his back and sink in a rear naked choke, or how to stop a man from effortlessly passing your guard, or how to not get mauled by St. Pierre, or how to mount any kind of offense whatsoever in a Natural Born Killer's guard. Until he learns how t do those things tell him to have a coke and a smile and shut the **** up . . . ****in' despicable! :verysad

I'm a Goddam paying fan who's had the displeasure of hearing Trigg's overrated yap for far too long. This is comin' from the same effin' guy that called St. Pierre a B-class fighter and then went on to get brutalized by him. Sure, we believe in the ol' Trigg-onometry. So as far as Frank is concerned, thanks but no, thanks. He can have a coke and a smile and shut the **** up!
