I was just countering your comment about Joe only facing shot fighters, because it was inaccurate. Joe fought Lacy who was 21(17)-0 IBF champ and about 5 years younger than Calzaghe. He also fought Kessler who was 7 years younger, 39(29)-0 WBA & WBC champ. They are not 'shot fighters'. How many Kessler fight have you actually watched? Did you even hear about him before the Calzaghe fight? Don't you think that after clearing up at Supermiddle that Calzaghe has earned the right to fight in marquee/money fights? I don't think anyone can begrudge him that.
I Heard it here on ESB, so take for what it's worth, back in the day Jones asked Eubank about Calz. and Eubank said, "High risk, low reward." Anyone out there know if this is true?
Lemme tell everyone somethin' about Frank Warren , i despise his existence!!! Im English, im not patriotic about boxing, i think this sport should know no geographical boundaries, but i live here , and see some fighters that i think are really good, and the reality is, that they wont get big fights with the best that boxing has to offer, because the majority of them are in America, and Frank 'the snake' Warren sees fighters merely as investments and does not care 1 bit about boxing fans who trully luv this sport. Dont get me wrong, why should he? Ive never done him a favor, i mean , i watch his shows, but why shouldnt he carry on his hustle for his own personal gains?? But the fact is, this guy is bad for BOXING, that is all i want , to see top guys fight top guys. Don King makes a killin', but he does so by pitting the right fighters against the right fighters. Frank Warren, please retire. If i had a kiid, and he was a really talented boxer that i really thought could become a ATG, i would pack up and move to America, so he could get what he deserves!!!
For some people, it wouldn't have made a difference if Joe TKO'd Hopkins in 1, NOTHING he can do will satisfy them. Even fighting Pavlik or Dawson next and winning handily, will do nothing for these haters. These are the same guys who blow Hopkins' and Mayweather's resume's out of proportions. Two very good resume's respectively, but they blow it out like both are top 30 ATG's, then act like Calzaghe's resume is full of bums and he's not even in the discussion for top 3 of this generation. It makes me sick.
