Obviously Khan, Calzaghe, Macceranelli and Skelton have all become reasonably big names in the UK because of the 2 year deal FW had with ITV. (Khan and JC being huge)

However some fighter are still in a simular position in terms of World Title hopes and being a name to the british public.

I think Alex Arthur and Kevin Mitchell stand out to me. I blame Frank by the way.

Totally agree there should have been alot more smaller cards with the 2 of them topping the bill rather than just on the undercard of JC and Khan. Dont understand why derry matthews got a night were he topped the bill in liverpool and the others didnt cause to me derry got alot of exposure with Gerrard and Carragher at ringside and is probarly more known then the likes of mitchell now.

Seems ITV are only really interested in Khan as Calzaghe's last fight was on Setanta and it was the BBC that re-showed it.

Wasn't Alex Arthur or Skelton going to be topping the bill? I remember wondering why he didn't have Mitchell on ITV1 he is a much bigger prospect than Matthews!

No derry was to top the bill amazingly Alex Arhtur was to be on his undercard!!! was meant to be the homecoming of Liverpools new world champion what a joke!!! well dont think things went according to plan that night. He may have go the decision but everyone knows that it was john who came out with the credit for the fight.

I'd say Scott Harrison missed his opportunity, big time.

FW messed it up with the JC Vs. Manfredo and Maccarinelli Vs. Gunn fights. ITV in their ignorance thought they had a night featuring two world title fights and were not best pleased with the spectacle.

You reckon thats why they only kept Khan on?

I think he was probably the biggest reason they decided to start boxing coverage again, but also in doing business with FW thought they could show a fair ammount of - what they thought - would be top class boxing.
I'm not sure what sort of money they were paying, but my guess is the WBO title fights cost them more money, but provided no more entertainment. They were almost certainly well aware that in Khan, they were showing the developement and rise of a potential star, who all ready had a good fan base, but was some way away from a world title shot.
