True... but Warren & Calzaghe arent exactly best friends anymore so I believe this particular statement myself.
Why make something up that makes JC look somewhat good if you dont get along with him ?
Doesnt make sense.

 

Stands to reason - Calzaghe is in a completely different class to Froch & Froch knows it.

Warren probably did offer Froch the fight but under what conditions we must wonder. Out of contract with his promoter Warren says. This must have meant Warren would want him to fight Joe and sign with him - win or lose.

Warren's word holds litter. He has the integrity of ........ (fill in blank with anything that doesn't have integrity).

 

I hate to say this but i actually believe Warren.

He is a lying ******* but he was actually positive towards Froch in his column. Other than that i believe that Froch himself knew he wasnt good enough to compete with Calzaghe so he therefore just talked about him to keep his name in the boxing news circle.

 

Exactly - when they were just inexperienced prospects, as opposed to decent established fighters when he wouldn't touch them. Typical Warren matchmaking.

 

Well, yes, but it wasn't quite like that...only a couple of months after he was "an inexperienced prospect" - around the time when Bute and Froch would have got the offer - , Bute became a beltholder (and Froch had the option of fighting him in the eliminator for the title shot), but even then Bute felt he wasn't ready for Calzaghe, or Kessler, for that matter. A couple of weeks before Froch decided he was ready for Calzaghe, Calzaghe was already undisputed and looking for a fight against a big name in the US. It just wasn't meant to happen for either Bute or Froch, but I think it's a bit unfair to suggest Warren, shrewd as ever, granted, picked some guys who were miles away from a title eliminator. Both Bute and Froch were in their careers about where Ward is, right now...on the brink of an eliminator...(both were ranked in the top 2-3 with all sanctioning bodies.)

Bute, I remember him saying, wished for a fight against Calzaghe as early as after Joppy...but he was completely realistic about his prospects of getting it, so he never talked about it publicly, except once, in passing, as an aside.

Froch however...well,...a different story.

By the time they were both "decent established fighters" Calzaghe was much too big for them, and he had nothing more to prove against their kind...

I hope setanta win the case. frank likes to take people to court doesnt he. I believe hatton and calazgh ended up going to court and winning. I think its sports network that picks up the bill for court costs not franky boy.

Gotta give him credit though where its due. He has made fighters a decent amount of money fighting a load of bums and then getting k/o or retiring etc. Look at hatton, calazaghe and khan.
