Problem is once we see Fury inside the ring we're reminded how fan-unfriendly his boxing style is. He's boring. Antics can't make up for a boring and ugly style.

We're probably getting the addition of Usyk and Gassiev near the end of the year, maybe Breidis will give it another go too.
They might stirr things up a little.
But would the thought of adding Fury to that list do that for you somehow? He has never been mister excitement in the ring.

You're not wrong, he doesn't have a fan friendly style which in part is why he was never a big draw. I don't expect his his return performances to light up the heavyweight division in any way. But what he lacks in drama in the ring he makes up for outside of the ring. He'll be able to draw interest in a Joshua/Fury fight no doubt.

People said Wlad was a boring fighter too and then AJ/Wlad was one of the best heavyweight title fights we've seen in years. We'll have the elusive, safety first boxer in Fury vs the seek and destroyer in Joshua, it's an intriguing match up which the fans will lap up even if the fight may not live up to the hype.

It's a good point. Fury has amazing skills for his size and can sell a fight like no other but it doesn't translate into the kind of boxing that that the average punter enjoys watching.

Somehow the idea of Fury > than the reality...

Well I guess they want Fury straight away because not even Fury knows how much he's slipped.

His Chisora 2 performance was excellent and would give AJ a run for his money.

Might be 2 yrs, 4/5 fights before he's actually back

It's funny, Wilder and Fury are likely to be AJ's two biggest challengers and it's probably in his interests to fight Wilder as late as possible and Fury as early as possible.

    For sure.
We all can agree that Fury would NEVER take a flat 11 MIL.
He got close to that in Germany v Wlad and was set for 22 mil in a rematch.
The Haye fights were said to be in the neighborhood of 9 mil.

A couple fights, grab the WBA minor title and demand 40%

Anyone have any thoughts about Fury taking a WBA regular belt path to a Joshua (or whoever is the full belt holder) fight?

Would be a smart move, hardcore fans would put no value in the belt but clueless casuals will lap it up and pay to watch another unification fight even if they don't know who Fury is.

Even fat Fury beats Charr or Oquendo and he'd give either of them a better payday than Briggs or anyone else wanting to scrape the bottle of the barrel for a world title.

But for his entertainment before a fight, in press conferences, interviews and so on we NEED him to come back. He is the most entertaining fighter in the world as a complete package. And i don't think he is boring to watch, he has tremendous skills.

Tell me, is Wilder a joy to watch apart from his knockouts? Or Dillian Whyte? Or even AJ? I don't think so.

Tyson Fury is a brand. And we need him coming back in the best shape ever to trouble all those champions out there.

See that's where I disagree. Mike Tyson was entertaining as a package. He was insane and crazy outside of the ring, then the next interview he was very educated about boxing history. He was a character. Inside the ring he was skillful and entertaining.

Tyson Fury keeps talking about making big fantastic fights, many guys jump on the bandwaggon. But once the first bell sounds, you keep watching for a minute or two and you realize is the same old Tyson Fury. Boring, ugly, uninteresting. The total package is unfortunately more talk than reality.

Another problem is we are going to see just how much he has slipped from aging and inactivity.

Fury is going to show some heart once he starts fighting top 5 fighters again, I'm not questioning that he has heart, he just better show it!

I know what you mean, but it is quite "unfair" comparing Fury and Tyson. Tyson is a legend, ATG, a very special character, he is unique and we won't see a guy like Mike Tyson again. Everyone out there would lose the comparison with Tyson for sure. In all aspects.
If we only talk about the current HWD i think Tyson Fury is one of the most entertaining characters out there. Of course not because he is fighting in a exciting way and delivers brutal Knockouts but the whole package is better than the rest, i think.

Is that really so? A guy who breaks contracts, flunks out of fights, gets caught and banned for PED abuse, talks about being "done with boxing" numerous times while fluctuating wildly in weight. Is that entertaining?

What's entertaining to some is a big boring crybaby who simply is lacking a proper work ethic to others.
