Frank Warren: GOAT UK Boxing Promoter

Whilst Hearn has focused on Novelty acts like Eggy, Hatton, Johnny Fisher etc.. and built a stable of women's fighters to pad out cards with cheap world title fights...

Warren has been working on fighters with unfashionable amateur CVs, like Liam Davies, Nick Ball, Hamzah Sheerez and now it's really starting to pay off.

He's put time and money into some raw talent and not bored us with **** women's fights and catch weight bouts

 

He's definetly top dog and it's a long way off for Hearn to get back on top. Hearn needs to invest deep in talent but he doesn't seem too bothered on signing young prospects these days, more focused on finished articles.

 

Matchroom is thin full stop. Don't know what Eddie's been doing. What happened with him expanding in Spain, Italy, Australia, Japan...

Disagree on the DAZN front. They seem to have massively deep pockets, Turki seems to favour them and they treat Boxing as their priority. Queensberry, Matchroom, Golden Boy and Wasserman all on DAZN is epic in terms of everything on one platform. Subscriptions for Sky Sports, TNT and DAZN is not realistic for most.

 

Tbf to hearn he pretty much sold out for the loot with dazn leaving frank to build.

Their not really competitors anymore.

Franks been left to promote careers whereas eddies just trying to promote a channel....pretty unsuccesfully by the looks of it.

 

I like Frank Warren because he scares me more than his fighters.

 

I hope you are right because I want the best for British boxing.

Is DAZN a strong platform to build up new names ?

Financially, it's probably great for Frank Warren to leave TNT Sports in favor of DAZN, but I'm worried about the future. Let's be honest, things aren't going too well for Matchroom in the U.K. right now...

 

I agree with you that all those promoters on one platform is excellent for boxing fans - but the problem is, Boxing is a minority sport and there simply are not enough hard-core fans to generate a mass subscription base I would of thought.

What you say is true that most people either can't or won't pay for multiple subscriptions,so in most households it will always be Sky or TNT which cover a broad range of the most popular sports,including a bit of boxing - as opposed to DAZN which is pretty much Box nation with hefty inflation added to the price tag
