I was all against Warrington dropping the belt but supposing the options are 1. Galahad at Leeds arena and get 65% and end up with a couple of hundred G. Or 2. Valdez at elland road or U.S on ppv. This is joshs chance to earn 7 figures and potentially set him up for life. There's a belt still on the line vs Valdez. It also makes him a 2 time w.c I dont like the idea of Josh dropping the belt but we all know he ain't ducking kid as Valdez is a harder fight. Its a chance to secure his family's future. Which would you do
Genuine and possibly naive question but would Valdez entertain a fight with Warrington without a belt? I’m guessing the money on offer from a potential Ppv would sway him?
It’s all presumptuous though. Has Valdez ever been on PPV? I know the Quigg fight was normal ESPN. Did the Frampton fight not set Josh up for life? What happens if Warrington vacates then loses to Valdez? Back to square one.
Out of those options available, surely the only one that makes sense is Valdez at ER. There's no proof Warrington was justified being on PPV last time out- still no figures released and Frank gets a right twitch on when questioned.
I think Valdez at Elland Road would do better than Warrington - Valdez in the USA, ticket sales and PPV.
I think that the money from a ppv is what will bring him over. E.R with 30, 000 + as well. I tho k it might be E.R in May. @Scissors no I don't think the Frampton fight set him up for life. I don't think the nos we're good and I'll be surprised if Josh took anything from the sales, after Frank submitted his outgoings.
Whilst it's a smaller fight the previous one did clash with Whyte Chisora. If Frank could do a better job of promoting then Warrington Galahad shouldn't be that hard to sell. Likeable, all action local hero against a regional rival who also happens to fit the bad guy role perfectly for a world title. I'm not saying it's the biggest fight around but it can surely do decent business? Also, regarding Warrington 'now being a PPV fighter.' Well, how about some honest numbers? If Frank concedes that the PPV with Frampton was garbage from a business POV, what can he do? Josh signed with Warren; he knows he's going to be stuck away on BT.
I agree. But doesn't Frank have to deliver some ppv to bt? If this is the case, who can Frank put on ppv apart from fury and now maybe Josh.
Only issue would be ppv numbers as I can't see it doing many in UK. Shame as stylewise and ability wise it would be a dream fight to watch.
The TV companies will just care about making the most money. The problem is that high selling PPV makes a lot, but the costs associated with it being PPV in the first place necessitate that it has to sell well or you'll incur a loss. Frank to be fair has been pretty open about this before; I'm fairly sure he openly admitted his Brook v Jennings PPV was a disaster. That said, he's now not the only game in town, and has presumably sold his brand to BT with his employers fully aware of what Sky have done. It's a difficult position for him, but you can bet everything you have that BT know the numbers, and if they're rubbish Frank is under serious pressure.
Not like you to post on the machinations of the PPV model, why it's almost like you have professional working knowledge of it.
I suppose Frank can play the get out if jail free card for the Dec 22, claiming Hearn show killed the nos. There is a cost to ppv obviously, I don't know the nos for Josh v Carl but I would guess it was somewhere around covering the costs. Kell v Jennings whilst been a good example of how to lose money on ppv isn't a good comparison to any ppv Josh might do. I would hope a lot has been learned by promoters from then, to make sure something like that doesn't happen again.
Yes, profit margins for PPV boxing bouts that broadcasters operate under are well known to Joe Public. I can't stop hearing about it everytime I go out in fact along with talk about the Barnett formula and its impact on post Brexit funding. Everyone talks about it. That is unless of course you're talking out of your rear end and are just yet another casual masquerading as an unpaid, volunteer armchair Matchroom financial analyst Billy Bullshitter who loves giving an internet "taps side of nose" now and again alluding to being connected to a promotional outfit and therefore having a greater grasp of "the numbers".
