Frank Warren never makes dangerous fights for his fighters?

Was It Frank who got ESB shut down when they blasphemed him one time?

 

I'll give him Enzo vs Haye, but Calzaghe was 35/36 when he got his Kessler fight and Arthur is approaching 30 before he get's his career defining fight.

 

Junior Witter vs Zab Judah although Waren was trying to ruin him, does this count?

 

He'd protected Calzaghe for a long time before the Kessler fight. As for Enzo-Haye I think he reckons Haye is there for the taking due to weight issues.

 

I remember a day when all the top fighters fought each other regularly. These days there are too much politics and its leeches like Warren squabbling over purses that cause the fans to lose out.

 

You could make a case for Warren giving JC the Lacy fight as being 'dangerous'. The reason that AAA is nearly 30 before his 'career defining fight' is that Gomez KO'd him and set him back at least 2 years.

 

Enzo vs Haye - he has waited until Haye is at 70% because of weight to make the fight.

Athur vs Guzman - The only way Arthur could get a World title fight. Even if Arthur looses he can still make decent money from him.

Calzaghe vs Hopkins - he had no choice, Joe has 2 fights left most might as well put him in the biggest money fights.

 

Admittedly I am no fan of Warren but he has put together some good shows and some very good match ups recently.

The big problem is that he is no different from every other promoter out there. They all want to protect a fighter who can give them money so it is hard for us to get a constant supply of prime vs prime top level fights.

 

Frank refused to make the Haye fight unless he had options on David's future career, until Haye won the WBC and WBA straps against Mormeck, which would have made him look silly asking for options.

Calzaghe has been ridiculously over protected, Joe is a great fighter, and would have beaten almost all of the names he is reportedly have ducked (or Frank ducked them for him!)

I think why people get sick of Warren is because of his control over his fighters, he runs a close second to Saddam Hussein in terms of dictatorship - he rarely does what his fighter wants, but the fighters shouldn't allow him to get away with it.

In terms of Alex Arthur, if you claim a paper Interim championship, you can't duck out of the fight with the real champ, not that it matters, because Alex will be blasted out in no time anyway.

 

Who are the people that 'Calzaghe ducked or Frank ducked for him'?

 

the only reason he started making big fights is because he was loosing the itv money and he needed to show he could still put together attractive cards both to the viewing public and the tv bosses.

I think why people get annoyed is because there were 18 (i think) defences of the WBO before a single unification fight, which is ****ing shite really.

Warren exercises a lot of power over his fighters, the only reason Tszyu got made is because Hatton threatened to leave him, whilst Frank (to my knowledge) was skirting round Kessler to find someone else, but the fight was made at Joe's insistence.
