http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/boxing/article1907072.ece I agree with a lot of the points Warren makes.
I hate to say it but i agree with Warren, Joe should have fought Pavlik instead of Jones and then after he wiped the floor with Pavlik, end with Jones.
I can't believe i'm saying this, but for once Warrens article is spot on and fair. Post it in the general forum.
Some decent points but only one side of the story. It may be a 50/50 split but Joe will be making more without Warren taking the promoters slice. Even if he does wave the 'managers fee' lol. Joe should have made more effort to build himself up on radio and TV.
Warrens rhetoric only becomes subjective once a fighter leaves his stable NOT the other way around. If Warren was promoting this fight Jones would have still been a "dangerous" and worthy opponent for Joe. I mean this is the same guy that tried to sell us Enzo vs Ezra Sellers. He has no credibility whatsoever.
The promotion of the fight has been crap. Tickets are still selling slowly and the event is miles away from even being close to a sell out. Ironically this fight DID NEED a promoter.
Frank's right, Calzaghe has Warren to thank for his unbeaten record as much as himself. It's is funny though. As the post above says, imagine what FW would be saying if he was promoting this fight!
maybe Warren did make a valid point or two... but I ask those of you who think he is sincere... Do you think he would have mae an article like that he if he was promoting this fight?? The obvious answer in no..... he would've have made an equally good article outlining why this fight is such a good thing.... Is Pavlik v Hopkins .... really more interesting than Calzaghe v Jones?? Hopkins one of the most negative fighters out there..... HBO had Jones v Trinidad on PPV ....while Hopkins v Calzaghe was not.... do you really think Hopkins is gonna get a lot of PPV???? Warrens made some very shitty points..... and it just outlines what a bitter fish eyed twat he is. I like the way RJJ and Calzaghe got the deal made.... I seriously doubt Warren could've got Calzaghe more money even with a fight with Pavlik. And regardless of that Calzaghe didn't want Pavlik (for whatever reason). Warren should stick to promoting the likes of Amir Khan and milking him while he can...
Calzaghe has got what he deserves by taking the easy route in this fight, the arena will be half empty unless they give the tickets away free.
