Notice how its only these two locations these days. He's not spreading shows around the UK like he used to. Why is that? Of his last 21 shows , 15 were in London, 5 in Telford. (1 Manchester). With the last 10 in a row strictly London and Telford. Telford International Centre - the new home of British boxing. Who'd have thought it
Also the hire cost is next to nothing. Frank or more importantly George decided to spend all the BT budget on 3/4 shows a year and then essentially run prospects shows the remainder. Outside of Ppv you will get 1 big card like Yarde vs Beterbiev or Joyce vs Zhang a quarter and the rest will be filler content
Nick ball and andrew cain in decent fights with a reasonable undercard would do respectable numbers in the echo i reckon. not saying it’d sell out but 4/5k as long as the opponents were decent.
Would be surprised but happy if McCann fights Baluta at York Hall on a Friday night.
Baluta is the fight. Slightly surprised it’s not a chief support on a bigger card, but maybe they want to push McCann as a headliner. It also helps to push the Friday night/small hall shows as a brand going forward as it’s clearly a long term strategy.
Very good strategy as we all enjoyed the small hall Friday Shows on Sky which produced some classic fights gaining many new boxing fans.
Nothing wrong with small hall shows. Too many focus on the big stadiums, fancy ring walks etc from a few years ago but at the end of the day we just wanna see a good scrap.
Yeah, good points from you & Beale. I don’t know if Sauerland would be up for doing business, but Warren should put an offer in for Henry Turner v Harlem Eubank. That would a cracking main event on one of these cards.
It’s because he’s a shithouse, Eddie’s little pet dog. His last event at a big arena (in London) did around 5000 tickets max, that’s why he sticks to small hall shows.
Here here! People rant about Frank, but he can't sell Jack. Without Tyson doing big gates, Frank has been left in the dust.
True. Remember when people here were saying Queensberry were number 1 in the UK. Now they have backtracked quickly.
