But he did have Tyson and so for a while there was nothing it, especially to casuals who don't care less beneath the top names. Fury also kept Frank relevant in the mainstream, particularly just as TalkSport decided boxing was important. He's heading back to BoxNation quality now - the odd good fight for those of us who follow closely but not many ticket sellers. In all honesty if you remove Joshua then Matchroom UK and Boxxer aren't that different.
Very true. Joyce had too many negatives to him to stop him winning a world title, Tyson is a promoters nightmare, who else is there?
But you have it wrong. Frank seems to only operate at UK level even when he has a world champion. Matchroom dominate on a global scale, so you can't just mention the UK arm. Frank never did America with Tyson or face anyone Non-UK when he had him. And he hasn't a single non-UK fighter worth talking about. If AJ and Tyson retired tomorrow, Frank's ship would sink. Eddie's wouldn't.
I deliberately said Matchroom UK for that reason. Any other comparison is kind of pointless by definition. Frank has tried some bizarre foreign promotions and they've gone nowhere so it's fair to say he's UK only and I can compare that to Matchroom's core UK output. I would go with something Barry Hearn said a while ago - Frank is the "corner shop" to Matchroom's global operations - absolutely true. But I'm willing to bet that if the toilet fell out of boxing for any reason, Matchroom would fall back on their other sports whereas Frank would still be firing into the small hall shows.
Your whole point is pointless. Eddie's promotional company puts shows on worldwide. Frank doesn't. So why bother with the what if's? Again, with another pointless comparison about the corner shop. If both failed at local level with boxing, Frank would be officially retired. Stop moving the goalposts with your point of view and comparisons. What I want to see are all of Fury's pay per view numbers since he's began fighting over here post Wilder 3.
Of course they would mate, they are accountants. Drop anything that doesn’t break even even for a short time, in a heart beat.
Yes it's always a bit suspicious when they don't release any figures. You always get the feeling they would be happy to shout it from the rooftops if they did a spectacular number but they tend to come out with the standard 'it's gone well, big numbers'. Why doesn't Furys PPV numbers get released? Why dont DAZN say how few subscribers?
They need to hope a couple of their prospects hit the mainstream and fast, because realistically the 'big' fighters they have are only a couple of fights from the end
I have never in my life heard a promoter make the gate number the focal point of money brought in from a fight and not mention the ppv loot at all. Tyson isn't doing the big numbers where it matters.
I'm struggling to get why you're getting so worked up when I'm almost entirely agreeing with you. The fact you can't read probably doesn't help.
I agree 100 % Bob. You can think what you want about Frank Warren, but no one can take away from him that he loves professional boxing and is willing to arrange shall hall shows with young talents.
