I remember when Frank signed up with BT, he was going to do 20 big shows on BT with a further 10 smaller shows on Boxnation annually. Now he's only doing the 10 smaller shows, on BT ! ( Well TNT but you get my point)

British boxing at a bit of a standstill at the minute but he’s got a load of young prospects signed up so should be okay long term if they’re managed correctly.

100%. He keeps going to these venues with low capacities so he can justify a solid main event with maybe one decent undercard fight followed by a string of prospects in 6 and 8 rounders.

The York Hall show on Friday in September I posted features Karol Itauma and Chris Bourke in 8 rounders. Why aren’t they in 10 rounders? Bourke is just going nowhere right now. After each of his fights we keep hearing that he’ll be in a competitive one next and it hasn’t happened.

For BT, the August 18 show is fantastic, and the Zhang Joyce II main event is also good.

Probably but Matchroom have done Pattinson v Jenkins and Yafai v Frank as main events and Sky have had Azim and Frazer Clarke headlining.

Truth be told there just isn’t enough headliners in British boxing these days.

    This is it.

We don't have enough headliners full stop. Our main attractions so to speak are all corpses now as well.

The big fights not happening as well has such a knock on effect.

In his pomp you could become a star from being on an AJ undercard etc. If we'd have had Fury vs Usyk it would have been an unreal opportunity for some British lads to make their names.

It's sad, with out the big events it stunts the prospects so much.

It's crap with Fury. Chisora and Ngannou in his last two fights? One has the longest losing streak and possibly brain damage and the other is 0-0-0 in boxing. Frank must be fuming.

They are NxtGen shows. Warren has headlined with David Adeleye twice against unkown Europeans, Ellis Zorro and Nathan Heaney, which makes up almost half of his shows this year. By the end of the year, Matchroom would have put on a lot more events in the UK and Ireland.

I can also tell you haven't watched Pattinson vs Jenkins as it was a FOTY contender. Yafai vs Frank is bad I agree. The difference also is that Pattinson, Yafai and Azim (probably not Clarke) will go on and push for world level. No disrespect to Adeleye, Zorro and Heaney, they will likely not go beyond British level.

Pattinson vs Jenkins was actually good matchmaking as Pattinson is a lot more well known in Newcastle now and will likely fight Lewis Ritson headlining on a normal Newcastle show next year. There is also one more NxtGen show in November which I think Pat McCormack will headline, who again will likely be a world level fighter.

Either way, I think all 3 promoters could do with improving their UK cards. I am personally looking forward to Joshua vs Whyte II, Usyk vs Dubois, Zhang vs Joyce II, Buatsi vs Azeez, Wood vs Warrington, and Cameron vs Taylor II from what has been announced so far.

‘Next Gen’ between blokes in their late 20’s and early 30’s.

As for ‘I can tell you haven’t watched Pattinson v Jenkins’ … I wasn’t slating the standard of the fight, I was saying the fact they put it on in the first place shows that every promoter is headlining with lesser names. How do you know the shows on BT won’t be FOTY contenders?

Stop being so defensive over Matchroom and DAZN **** me. You don’t even subscribe you melon.

When there were two main promotions there wasn't such an apparent lack of depth. Now with Matchroom, Queensberry, Boxxer and to a lesser extent Wasserman etc the butter is being spread way too thin and it's starting to show. As fans there's more choice than ever, but none of them are particularly appealing due to the amount of filler.

I’ll be on the DAZN thread for a while now after another Matchroom fighter has failed a drugs test. Tut tut.
