Frank Warren plots world title path for Maccarinelli

    Promoter Frank Warren is ready to guide Swansea cruiserweight Enzo Maccarinelli on the path to becoming the first Welshman to regain a world title. The 29-year-old former WBO champion makes the first defence of his European crown against Alexander Frenkel at Birmingham's LG Arena on 18 September.
    Warren, who wanted Maccarinelli to retire last year, says he is hoping to make that a world title eliminator.
    "[If he wins] I've got to make [a world title fight] happen," said Warren.
    "It's the next stop, there's no way I want him sitting around waiting for it to happen.
    "I was one of the people asking him to retire - I care for him and consider him a friend as well as a professional fighter

    I dont really watch Macca fight, and dont follow him that much, but what do you think of his career?? do you reckon he could carry on to a title shot again or what?

    i belive he has won the 2 fights after get TKO'd by Haye,

    Whats your thoughts?

    frenkel will end any title hopes enzo and warren have.
    i expect frenkel will crush enzo the same way lebedev did.

    He was stopped two more times after the Haye fight before winning a couple, one in the first for the Euro title. Frenkel will be a test though

    Have never seen Frenkel, what is he like?

    Personally, I think Enzo's Euro title win has only papered over the cracks and he would be beat by nearly all the top level fighters. However, I don't know if Frenkel is one or not.

    I agree that his opponent for the Euro title was shocking. However, I don't necessarily think Enzo is terrible. He doesn't have a god awful chin, his two losses post-Haye were against fighters who have gone on to prove themselves as top ten fighters at Cruiser (not saying much as the division is barren at the moment) and Lebedev even went on to spark Alexeev quicker than he did Enzo (who finished the fight on his feet)

    Yeah, the Lebedev fight sort of 'improved' the general outlook of how good Enzo's chin is - still not great though :yep

    Enzo has some good tools, can bang - certainly to the body - has a decent jab and is quite fast for his size. Plus the confidence boost over that guy for the Euro title seems to have done the world of good for his mentality.

    the guy was undefeated and was mandatory for the EBU.

    Lebedev in my opinion is the best cruiser.

    Enzo vs Frenkel
    Rhodes vs Koncekny
    Cleverly vs Murat

    Frenkel is probably the most likeley winner. Still all 50-50s. such a great card.
