It's been reported by multiple sources that Frank Warren is eyeing April 13 for the Wilder-Fury rematch ... the same day Anthony Joshua is scheduled to make his next defense in the UK. Warren says since Tyson Fuy can't fight Joshua that day they are looking at staging the Wilder rematch that day instead. This could mean Wilder-Fury II will take place in the U.S. ... unless Wilder-Fury II promoters decided to go head to head with Joshua vs. TBD in the UK. If Wilder-Fury II takes place in the U.S. ... Joshua-TBD would be seen by U.S. boxing viewers as more of a 'primer' - like the recent Adonis Stevenson bout - before the BIG FIGHT that night on PPV. If it's in the UK, British fans will have to decide which PPV to purchase. (The U.S. fans won't.)
Would be best to put Fury vs. Wilder 2 in NYC, IMO. Quick flight for the British fans, a couple thousand miles away from Wilder's hometown, but most importantly the time zone would work for both fan bases. Do it like Ward/Froch with one UK judge, one US judge, and one neutral judge (not from Mexico ha ha.)
Imo Wilder vs Fury 2 should happen in las vegas a fair very popular arena with fair judges, fair ref and let's settle this once and for all.
It would be a mistake to put it on the same night in the UK. They will not get many PPV purchases if they do.
You could still watch both if you're prepared to pay £40 because Joshua vs TBD would be at about 10pm and Fury V Wilder would be early hours of the morning
That's my idea too. The bigger name would be fighting at the much better timeslot, so easy pick for the ones that have to choose which fight to buy. It seems like Warren can't affort these kinda risks, while Hearn wouldn't be pleased but he can obviously take the hit.
Buying both in the UK would still make it cheaper than a regular American PPV!!! However I'll buy neither. I'm not interested in AJ vs Whyte as it will just go the same way it already did. I'm not interested in Fury Wilder because it stinks of corruption to release another £20 from my account. I am a very, very principled man. Very.
