You're forgetting AJ still has to do the business in the ring. The sky hype pr machine means very very little if AJ doesn't perform.

I hate all this talk about splits and who gets what. Not picking you out mate, I just got to second page and couldn’t be bothered reading the rest.

You’re absolutely correct. AJ doesn’t need Fury to sell 1 million PPV’s or sell 80k tickets. However, if AJ wants to sell say 1.5 million PPV’s and 100,000 tickets then he does need Fury or Wilder. 70% of that is much much bigger than 70% of what fighting someone like Povetkin brought to the table. So when you consider the money that would be generated by AJ vs Fury/Wilder, to make it happen it would make sense for the ‘A’ side to see the bigger picture and compromise a little.

As huge a brand that AJ is, the chemistry between him and an opponent can make a huge difference to how much money he can make.

Why does AJ resume put Furys to shame?

Fury went abroad and beat one of the most dominant heavyweights ever... that results chits on anything Joshua has done.

Joshua beat an older, less active version of Wlad who's aura had been destroyed at home. Outside of that he has beat a 39 year old Povetkin, and the likes of Whyte and Parker... who are no more impressive than Fury dismantling of Chisora.

Rather than listening to those two muppets, I much preferred listening to ole Frank Bruno beforehand.

Add to that the fact british boxing fans will respect furys comeback from oblivion as one of the greatest sporting comebacks of all time, and elevating furys resume to that of legendary status.

Joshua v Povetkin sold more tickets than Fury has in his entire career combined and more PPV buys than Fury’s entire career combined. He will get a big chunk if they ever meet but there’s not a chance it’s a 50/50 or co broadcast split.

Considering GGG v Canelo 2 did 1.1 mil I think you are looking at 350k max in the USA.

It will probably break all PPV records in all honesty. But so would Joshua v Wilder. Fury v Wilder doesn’t. There’s one common denominator. It’s Joshua sells.

It’s pathetic that we as fans are even having this discussion to be honest. Let’s just see whether December the 1st happens and if so what the result is. Apparently there’s a two way rematch clause so it’s more than likely Whyte in April.

It didn’t break the record Hearn said on IFL but done over a mil. (Still less than the Parker fight).

Nobody doubts they bring value to the fight. They don’t bring 50% of it though do they?

Definatly i dont know what to make of the hearns desire for deontay to win?( theirs many theories i have) but surely being as money driven as they are they can see a fury win and a unification w
So true, but its his boxing style that will never win over the people, in any other weight division he would be lauded and rightly so, his elusive hit, not get hit and frustrate, will never win over the masses. If he goes to wilders yard and beats him after the lay off and his last two perfomances then fair play to that man. But his greatest achivement will allways be the way he has wiped peoples memories of his PED use, through his admition of recreational drug use and mental health issues.

Sorry for partial post just getting used to posting. I ment to say that surely the hearns can see that the really financially rewards come from beating fury if fury beats wilder first rather than the other way around.

    Welcome :)

Have to disagree. Wilder beating Fury is the better financial outcome for Matchroom.

A Josh v Fury fight would be the biggest in UK history, no question. It would do bigger numbers over here than the equivalent Wilder bout.

However the UK market is finite and the top end fixed. Only so many pubs, boxing fans, casuals to convert etc. They're close to maxxing out already.

They need to break the us market to really maximise the earnings potential of AJ and wilder could be the key to that. Fury won't however.

Probably spot on that. Throw in the co broadcast nonsense too where match room would lose money from.
