This is certainly true, AJ is consistently doing around 1.3 mill PPV buys which is based largely around his popularity in the UK, which includes Fury fans.

That is why Hearn liked the idea of Joshua fighting in america, mentioning a few times in the past. However it is clear that Joshua is very reluctant to leave his comfort zone in the UK, and thus KO Wilder in england would be one way to attract fans from America.

But it's a very risky fight, and when Joshua is making 20 million for beating up old men and european level fights, why take the risk? Which is why Hearn makes demands such as 80-20 purse.

If Fury beat Wilder however the pressure on AJ would significantly increase... suddenly Fury will be saying he dismantled Wlad, and he beat the man Joshua was scared of, then fans/casuals will certainly start questioning who is the best.

 

Mike Tyson's one of the biggest names in the history of boxing whereas all Fury's known for is winning the title in one of the most boring fights in boxing history that no one will remember in ten years, then disappearing for almost three years and being a drugs cheat, a bit of a difference.

 

I agree with alot of what you just said. But does that mean that the wilder fury fight will propel wilder to new levels popularity within the US? If the marketing is on point its possible i guess, but i belive he is one of the lesser known american boxing champions, hes along way behind spence, garcia and crawfard which for a heavyweight champion should be a worry for him and his team. i cant say for sure tho. his PPV numbers arent the best either.
