So what does he mean when he says Allen Gorman? Can't Frank just make that himself? Look, the reality is we all know Frank is struggling. His fighters are leaving him in their droves and his viewing figures are pathetic. This looks a bit desperate. My view is Frank knows he's getting trashed when it comes to promoting by Hearn, so he'd like to do a bit of a co-promotion, split the deal and let Hearn promote it, which Hearn won't. Why? Because he's doing fine as it is. As Hearn said himself, if Frank wants to talk about doing shows with Matchroom fighters, go and talk to Matchroom. It's not hard is it.
If Hearn can make more money he will do it, if he cant he wont, its that simple. You are far too fixated with a tweet. Lets just see what happens. Hearns interview gave me a bit of hope.
Oh I agree with the idea that if Hearn can make money out of it he will; I just don't see how that can happen if he has to split the income across two domestic networks unless the fight is absolutely massive.
It really depends on the fights and how they split them, hopefully discussions are held without ego. Any Hearn v Warren card will probably a get PPV boost in this country. Lets see what happens. Hearn is obviously the better modern day promoter and im sure he would love to utilise BTs superior social content producers.
If they even have their sit down meeting I can’t see anyone arguing that Hearn should be on the honours list for charitable work.
Warren is ******ed. He talks all kind of **** about Hearn. Lies on him for years and now he wants to work with him because his stable is dry? Hhahahah. And he wants DuBois to fight Whyte so that Fury can weasel his way out of the mandatory fight. I cannot be the only guy here who sees that can I?
This content is protected looking well Frank , looks like he’s upgraded his office use to love the old interviews in the dark office with the blinds closed!! 2:46 Frank fancy his chances against unbeaten amateur Eddie Hills ?
Matchroom as a business has mega cash reserves and good for them. This is unlike Queensbury who are probably fighting to stay up as per normal. However, despite Eddies bravado, in a boxing sense his business is in just as much difficulty as Franks... AJ - Pulev appears to be in no mans land at the moment, no venue, no date and no crowd when he has to come up with big money to pay for it. AJ’s numbers /popularity are also on the downside and Pulev can well make that fight an absolute stinker, further potentially damaging AJs brand. If it is another stinker, I wonder if Team Fury might be asking for another look at the splits for there proposed fight.. DAZN are skint/cutting down on purses...what is going to happen with Matchroom US..is it viable still.. Will DAZN even want to pay for Hearns biggest star, AJ when his fight is likely to be in Europe, so non prime time US or have ESPN managed to get the rights as they promote Pulev... Danny Jacobs, Andrade (which is why he is clearly willing to do business with Frank for the Williams fight) what’s he going to do with them.. UK based fighters, who he has No idea what to do with; BJS, C Smith, L Smith, Brook etc, etc. Fights like Domestic level Cheeseman and Eggington bashing each other’s brains in will not keep people happy long term. Hearn has got plenty of problems, so the “We’re flying” talk doesn’t wash with me...
That's a long post and I've not read the rest but got this far. Are they really? AJ v Ruiz II is the third best selling fight in UK PPV history. It did more buys than Lewis Tyson, Klitschko Haye, Hatton Mayweather and Mayweather Pacquaio and those fights were massive. At an increased cost as well, it generated more money than any fight in the UK, ever. Also, a date and a venue were agreed but Covid means they have had to move it. That's fine. If they can't get a crowd who knows - could take place behind closed doors. An AJ fight will still easily do a million buys in the UK. Just edited to clarify the third biggest fight was Joshua's last fight - namely the rematch with Ruiz.
Not sure DAZN are skint considering they just did spent billions on Bundesliga rights and German champions league exclusivity rights.
Im talking about the finances of DAZN Boxing primarily..they have turned the gravy train off at least for the time being. This is why Eddie had to let Hunter go and he has already said that more are likely to leave also. As I have been saying for weeks, Eddie confirmed that he wants to make a deal with Frank for Andrade - Williams and he’s happy for Frank to have the fight. Why- because the money isn’t there for it to be viable for him. The list of examples are endless.
Got to love Frank for trying but he does come across as very desperate, he also said he doesn't want to discuss/argue about it in the press , didn't he issue a 'press' release ? When you're arguing about the number of viewers and reveling in the fact that Eddie's was on free to view and his own was behind a pay wall it does come across as slightly desperate, when has that ever been a valid argument ? Is Sky Sports Mix really free anyway , do you not at least need a sky sub of some sort ? Good to also hear they didn't grass on Matchroom about Diamante they just 'asked' the board . I don't really care who promotes what as long as we get decent fights but its hard to see these 2 getting much done
As I said, MMA essentially has one elite promoter and people tend to view that as a positive. The best have less ability to avoid the best and the fights that will make everyone involved a fortune seem easier to make.
