Roach said Khan will possibly have a couple of fights after Barerra and won't have a title fight until they feel he is ready.Mind you,Khan will never be ready for JMM

I beg to differ. What you are saying makes sense to me and probably most on this forum, but Khan is one of the few boxers these days who has a fanbase outwith the traditional boxing fans.

It may sound ridiculous to boxing fans but a lot of Khan 'fans' won't even have heard of JMM.

Warren has always protected such fighters because it's easier to sell them as World Champions with no or maybe one or two losses on their record.

If Khan loses again so soon after his defeat from Prescott it would damage his marketability to the UK casual fan.

There is an argument that it would be a good learning experience for Khan to fight Marquez while he's still young, but it would not be inkeeping with anything I've seen from Warren over the years.

If Warren does actually want the fight and it is about money, it's probably because he thinks Khan's chin means he'll get KO'd a few times over his carreer whoever he fights and will lose his appeal before long, so he may as well cash in with the single biggest fight he can get or him.

Realistically though, Warren must know that JMM is unlikely to fight Khan when the winner of Hatton-Pacquaio awaits him. Marquez is what, 36yo or so, he doesn't have fights to waste.

It is precisely because Khan fans generally aren't hard core boxing fans that the fight against the p4p No.2 makes sense...If Khan beats JMM, he could say he's a top p4p fighter...and he'd be right, I guess...in some way....

...he'd call out Hatton, and they'd make a huge, huge fight...think about it!;)

I agree that JMM would not fight Khan. This fight will never happen. But Warren would chase it, I'm sure of it! The risk/reward is excellent!

Yeah...but so what...think of the money this fight could make...think of the hype...

...won't happen, but if it did, it would be very big!:good

Khan can lose to quite a few people, some of them not even world class fighters...so why not lose to one of the very best for a lot more money, at a much better risk/reward? :conf

Cash your chips in while you are still ahead right.

I think you have to know Kahn won't ever be an elite big money fighter but if you can get a big payday out of him you still win.

And if by some chance in hell he did win the Hatton fight you mentioned would be of epic proportions.

I know your not from the UK and maybe don't really understand the Brittish casual fan mentallity. I don't sometimes. I'm a fan of Football/soccer and boxing and thats about it. Some people here will be big Tennis fans when Wimbledon is on, but ONLY when Wimbledon is on, they only watch Football when England are at a World Cup or European Championships and are shocked every two years when the Scottish want the England team to lose. Khan, somehow reaches out to such characters, they still think he's this cute little kid who was fighting big men at the olympics. They don't give a **** who he fights as long as he wins, or at least doesn't lose too often. A few years ago the sport of Womens Curling (Bowls on ice,) was getting popular or a while because Britain won a gold at it at the winter Olympics. Most (well a lot of,) Khan fans would just as readily watch that pish as boxing. ****, when i was a kid ice-skating was quite popular for years because o Torville and Dean getting a perfect score at it at the Olympics. You would maybe get respect in some places or getting spanked from one of the worlds best if you at least manned up to it but in Britain people would just switch to some other sport.

More than what I've said though, Warren would be changing the habit of a lifetime if he genuinely was after pairing Khan up with Marquez. It is far more inkeeping with everything he's done up to this point if he was just using Marquez name to hype up one of his fighters.

Other than what I've highlighted though I agree with what you say.

It's just Warren blowing smoke up his and Khan's arse again. It's all talk, reality is Warren would never put his cash cow in against JMM!
