Frankie Edgar VS Ben Henderson UFC 144 Prediction

I feel like Bendo may match Edgar is both cardio and fighting spirit.

edgars will outpoint him. Hendo will have a difficult time landing any strikes while edgars will do his thing moving in and out and mixing up his strikes. Dont be suprised if edgars takes hendo down in later rounds.

 

This is a fight I have vacillated on for some time, but I am ultimately going with Edgar. While Henderson has a size advantage, his Boxing is crude, he is slower, and Edgar holds a technical wrestling advantage and can scramble like no other in MMA. Henderson can probably bull him to the mat via superior strength but he will catch hell in trying to hold down a guy with hips like that and his own best work is done in scrambles where Edgar thrives. I like Edgar by UD, though I won't be at all surprised if his Glass Jaw gets cracked at some point.

Henderson's best chance is to clinch every chance he gets, work punches and knees on the inside, and use his strength to wear Edgar down for the championship rounds. That's easier said than done given that other sizable opponents have been unable to grind Edgar out, however.

Henderson UD

 

Good fight, we know what Edgar is about and expect him to bring his A game.

What makes Henderson dangerous imo is his length and aggression during transitions. He has really long arms, powerful legs and isn't exactly slow or non quick himself on top of what I think is a strength advantage.

Against Guida we saw Henderson use power and quickness to gain advantage after he stuffed some takedowns and during scrambles for dominant positions and he did this at Guida's pace.

I think there are some huge sinkholes for Henderson to fall into.. Namely if he finds himself in a situation early where he goes for a guillotine choke and blows his wad, and also being able to effectively use his reach advantage against Edgar. I'm not sold on Benderson's ability to either use his reach advantage to keep Edgar at bay, or to effectively use it aggressively to go after him. Edgar is something else with his standup and his ability to create angles with an incredible heart to back it up..

Benderson has an interesting array of tools, but I don't know if he will be able to employ them properly against Edgar.. It makes for a very intriguing matchup. I still favor Edgar and really appreciate him for what he does and his heart.
