After watching him on saturday night i cant ever see him making an impact at Welterweight above domestic level , Doent have the size and stregnth to be a fully fledged welter , seriously needs to look at getting down to lightwelter as he looks like he has flesh to shift , Punch Power is non existent and the like of Khan Brook could have an absolute field day with him at welter , Thoughts.................

Needs to get on Tim Bradley's vegan diet and he'd make 140 no doubt.

way too fat for welter, got the physique of a journeyman, not a world class fighter

It's a hard call, he has got world class skills but looks a bit fleshy.

It all comes down to how comfortable you feel at the weight, draining yourself down works for certain fighters but not all just look at Chavez jnr vs Martinez.

Frankie has been boxing long enough to know if his body is capable of making the weight below and if he would be comfortable doing so.

Agreed davie he just doesnt have the height or frame to be a welter imo , great footwork and movement but couldnt punch snow off a rope which is a big issue at welter as the top boys all hit hard , imho his size and frame he should be at best a 135 fighter 140 at a push

I think Denton Vassell might disagree after having his jaw badly broken by Frankie Gavin in their fight!!

I think people underestimate his punching power tbh.

Very rare occasion imo a jaw can be broken dependant on where the punch lands not neccaceraly the stregnth of the punch , Hes very amaturish with his tippy tappy style , Bores me to tears watching him tbh

I agree with the style but with the right opponents I think he could be in interesting fights. The problem is that most of the guys he has fought aren't really in his class and don't have the skill to properly put their stamp on the fight.

I have seen Denton up close and he is a massive welterweight, good pedigree and Frankie made him look very ordinary imo. I'd like to see him step up his level of opponent so we can see how good he really is!

It's no about draining himself down to 140,it's about being professional and putting the work in. Beans on toast won't cut it at that level!

Exactly and with him having Kerry Kayes one of the best nutrition and conditioning coaches in the game theres no reason he cant do the weight properly as he looks a bag of shite at 147

Gavin's opponent was decent it was a good win and now he's mandatory for the European title against Bundu. Bundu will be a tough fight, but i'm sure Gavin's class will tell and he will come through that fight comfortably. IMO Gavin will make Bundu look the old age he is.
Then i think his Promoter should look to some sort of eliminator or maybe the winner of Khabib Allerkvhierdiev-Jessie Vargas or even the Puerto Rican Thomas Dulorme. Gavin would make Dolurme look stupid and beating these type of opponents would open doors to the big fights against Khan and Brook.

Frankie is working with Kerry Kayes so I would think that one of the first things they would have spoke about was the possibility of him going down, so maybe Kerry has decided that it wouldn't be the best idea. Just because he isn't ripped doesn't mean he needs to move down, if he feels good, strong at the weight that is more important.

Look at Tony Bellew he didn't look ripped even when he was killing himself to make Light Heavy! Every body is shaped different and some athletes don't get ripped.

Frankie will be the only one to blame if his career doesn't turn out the way his skill should take him and he could have safely make Light Welter but we will have to wait until the end of his career and look at the titles he has or hasn't won to see if he was right.

I agree with all your points mate but lets be honest hes got virtually zero stregnth at 147 , Very much like hatton he was out his depth everytime he fought at 147 but at 140 he was an animal , bullied guys in the clinch always looked and felt stronger and Kerry was his SnC coach so id imagine he could do the same with Franky , id love to have seen hatton vs mayweather at 140 as i believe it would be a totally diffferent fight
