My lasting memory of Frankie Gavin is him nervously standing behind a towel holding his bits as he failed to make weight for the Egginton fight before getting battered by the delivery driver the following day.

its mad how some doughnuts thought this. It was alwaysys really clear to me from the start he just did not have the punch power and strength for the top level of the pro game

Had the skills in the ams but when you don't have the discipline to make weight for the Olympics, there are big problems there. Everyone just coddled him along, a lot of yes men. Nobody saying get your lazy arse to 135 and stay there and put the effort in or you will regret it for life. There was probably no getting through to him anyway.

Could never get past the nickname 'Funtime Frankie', makes him sound like a rent boy.

Had bags of talent but lacked the discipline, boxed at the wrong weight and never achieved his true potential.

In the end, a body can only take so much 'beans on toast'.

Jokes aside, it's a shame Gavin never got it together. He was talented, skilled and (as he proved against Sam Eggington) game.

Didn’t live the life in terms of training and nutrition and liked a night out too much and too often, wasted his career at a weight he should never have been at, I remember back around 2011 he was saying he was going to 140 and maybe 135 but never happened.

seems like an okay guy so good luck to him in whatever he’s doing now, probably kicks himself on a regular basis for tossing it off
