Another good boxing interview from Donald McRae in today's Guardian.

Didn't know Gavin had Kerry Kayes helping him with his nutrition and it was also interesting to hear that Oscar's been in touch with him about making his pro debut on the Hatton v Malignaggi undercard.

Good interview, thanks for sharing. He says he's also talked to Hobson and Hennesy and says he'd like to talk to Warren. Hopefully he doesn't sign with Warren or the other UK promoters but rather Golden Boy or even Top Rank if they're interested.

Nice to hear him say "We haven't spoken about money yet because it's not about who might give me the most - but who'll give me the best chance to be world champion."

Tough one for who he should choose....

One thing he must insist on is being given experience of fighting abroad and against different kinds of fighters, rather than chumps with ten times as many losses as wins.

Frank Warren is way too controlling, Mick Hennessy is full of ****, Dennis Hobson isn't active enough - whereas Frank Maloney tends to have his fighters on FFN constantly.

I would advise him to join Top Rank, or Golden Boy - who are desperate to get into the UK and European market

"I wouldn't mind meeting Frank because he's Britain's top promoter in a lot of people's eyes." Sounded like a really backhanded complement to me.

The fact that he's using Hatton's nutritionist and Hatton seems to have been recruited by Golden Boy for exactly the purpose of providing introductions to British talent suggests to me that Golden Boy will make an effort to sign him up.

Yeh, cannot see him coming away with the medal to be fair. Looks like weight is a serious issue for him.

Any young fighter in the UK should sign with Warren for there first 2-3 years, then move on. No one is better at getting there name out there.

He will not go beyond British level.

Saw him fight a few times and he just does not have that x-factor (or shall we say game plan) you need to become a world champ. As soon as he steps up in class in the pro ranks he will be found out.

Have seen very little of him myself, let's hope you're proved wrong!

He has quite some time to improve.

    Based on what?

I agree with Kurt, he doesn't look good enough to make big waves in the pro ranks, but he looks very likely to get a medal.

He will do very very well imo! He has the same sort of skills Pernell Whittaker had and look what he won when he went pro!!!
