yeh I am the same age as Frankie and you just naturally retain more weight and build more natural muscle. I weigh 72kg at the moment, last summer i was 65kg, but i am in no worse condition.

he can still get a good pro-contract. Olympic wins aren't the be all and end all.

What a big **** up this situation is. I feel gutted for the lad. I hope he turns pro now. Gavin was the only serious hope of a gold at the games, the gyppo is not to hot to be honest at this level.

Massive blow for the lad, hope he turns pro now. He'll get some good offers to turn pro but if he'd won a medal at the Olympics he'd have got some bigger offers plus he would get a lot of publicity ala Khan. On the plus side there'll be less pressure on him once he turns pro.

Maybe he can start a pro career more easily now without the hype surrounding a successful Olympian (e.g. Khan)

might make his life a bit easier in the long run

Of course its somebodies fault. They should have either realised the situation and had him qualified at light welter, otherwise they should have avoided any muscle building training prior to this to help the lad

    Its incompetency either way

I agree - there has been a big ****up somewhere. Rumour has it that he has been struggling to make 132 for quite a while, so why not just move up to lightwelter (139 I think) to allow him to eat three square meals a day?

He should turn pro immediately, sign with Hayemaker or Frank Maloney. Mick Hennessy fighters do nothing but whinge whilst Warren will get him an inter-alphabetty title.

He couldn't make fight at light-welter cos there's already another British fighter who's qualified at that weight. It was lightweight or nothing. There was a ****up though, rather than concentrate on getting his weight down they put him in at lightwelter for competitions.

Apparently Golden Boy have already approached him and there was a article posted here which said DLH had told Frankie that he could make his debut on the Hatton-Paulie undercard if he signs with them. That would be a good move, he should avoid Warren at all costs.

how do you work out that Maloney or Hayemaker will do a better job than Warren and Hennesey, there track record certainly does not show this.

also Gavin qualifies at lightweight, so if he moved up he wouldnt have been able to enter the olympics. Saunders is going at light welter.

They could have moved the lightwelter up to welter - I don't f**king know, it would be good to have as many Brit boxers there as poss.

Warren is a very good promoter, but I don't feel he will be the right man, Gavin is nearly 24 and wasting time on inter-alphabetty straps is just pointless - better to get him a promoter who will ensure that he is tested early on. Maloney or GBP may be able to do that rather than sticking him in with the likes of Baz Carey and Ernie Smith - which will teach him absolutely jack****.

I think most people on here know that I am the resident Hennessy hater - you wonder whether he actually believes any of the bull**** exiting his trap to be honest. Now I like Carl Froch, but the 'next big thing in world boxing' do me a favour.
