He'll go with Warren, guaranteed fights and on the inside track. And before anyone starts bitching, yes I know Frank Warren is a ****.
Well Kerry Kayes is pretty much the leader in nutrition and weight management, so if he couldn't do it I fail to see who could. People fill out at different ages - maybe this was the man's time.
This is what happens when halfwits like the ABA are running the show. What the **** were the coaches thinking? And Gavin himself is as much to blame as the dippit ABA coaches. This is a total shambles, an embarrassment to Britain, and reflects appallingly and all those involved.
“In this heat you can lose 2lbs in your sleep. Although if anyone wants to buy me a cake or ice-cream, feel free!” a quote from Frankie Gavin this week. think he might live to regret that. excellent interview with Kerry Kayes where he slates the olympic team. Seems like McRae is genuinely pissed off after spending a bit of time with Gavin. Ridiculous that Keyes wasn't there with him if things were tight.
The Olympic rules state that only accredited coaches are permitted to attend Olympic games and be involved with competitors. Hence why Linford Christie was at odds with the GB team coaches as they had it in for his personal coach Ron Roddan. Unless Kayes was brought on board by the ABA as an official coach he has no right to be there. I would imagine that he makes a damn sight more from sales of supplements to professional boxers and other athletes that it renders him joining the GB squad worthless. Furthermore, perhaps his face didn't fit with the ABA, who are essentially a rather backwards body. Kayes's attitude that eating regularly and hydrating properly are rather against the grain - as boxers used to lose weight by making themselves ill.
It's a real shame. But at the end of the day, the lad might just have grown a fair bit, it happens. They clearly took a gamble, it was no secret that he was tight as **** at the weight, and it's backfired.
Sounds like the old story of the stuffed shirts at the ABA not letting specialist outsiders in just in case they are shown up for the behind-the-times old farts that they are.
